2013-12-11ARM: tegra: add missing clock documentation to DT bindingsStephen Warren
Many of the Tegra DT binding documents say nothing about the clocks or clock-names properties, yet those are present and required in DT files. This patch simply updates the documentation file to match the implicit definition of the binding, based on real-world DT content. All Tegra bindings that mention clocks are updated to have consistent wording and formatting of the clock-related properties. 2013-12-11clocksource: Add Allwinner SoCs HS timers driverMaxime Ripard
Most of the Allwinner SoCs (at this time, all but the A10) also have a High Speed timers that are not using the 24MHz oscillator as a source but rather the AHB clock running much faster. The IP is slightly different between the A10s/A13 and the one used in the A20/A31, since the latter have 4 timers available, while the former have only 2 of them. 2013-09-02clocksource: armada-370-xp: Fix device-tree bindingEzequiel Garcia
This commit fixes the DT binding for the Armada 370/XP SoC timer. The previous "marvell,armada-370-xp-timer" compatible is removed and two new compatible strings are introduced: "marvell,armada-xp-timer" and "marvell,armada-370-timer". The rationale behind this change is that the Armada 370 SoC and the Armada XP SoC timers are not really compatible: * Armada 370 has no 25 MHz fixed timer. * Armada XP cannot work properly without such 25 MHz fixed timer as doing otherwise leads to using a clocksource whose frequency varies when doing cpufreq frequency changes. This commit also removes the "marvell,timer-25Mhz" property, given it's now meaningless. 2013-07-18ARM: clocksource: Add support for MOXA ART SoCsJonas Jensen
This patch adds an clocksource driver for the main timer(s) found on MOXA ART SoCs. The MOXA ART SoC provides three separate timers with individual count/load/match registers, two are used here: TIMER1: clockevents, used to support oneshot and periodic events TIMER2: set up as a free running counter, used as clocksource Timers are preconfigured by bootloader to count down and interrupt on match or zero. Count increments every APB clock cycle and is automatically reloaded when it reaches zero. 2013-06-06clocksource: Add TI-Nspire timer supportDaniel Tang
This patch adds a clocksource/clockevent driver for the timer found on some models in the TI-Nspire calculator series. The timer has two 16bit subtimers within its memory mapped I/O interface but only the first can generate interrupts. The first subtimer is used to generate clockevents but only if an interrupt number and register is given. The interrupt acknowledgement mechanism is a little strange because the interrupt mask and acknowledge registers are located in another memory mapped I/O peripheral. The address of this register is passed to the driver through device tree bindings. The second subtimer is used as a clocksource because it isn't capable of generating an interrupt. This adds device tree support for the U300 timer, by making the memory base offset and IRQ dynamically assigned, then optionally looking them up from the device tree. Since the timer needs to be registered before any platform devices are created, we will go into the device tree and look up the "/timer@c0014000" node and read our base address and IRQ from there. There are both new drivers as well as existing drivers that are getting converted from platform-specific code into standalone drivers using the appropriate subsystem specific interfaces. In particular, we can now have pinctrl, clk, clksource and irqchip drivers in one file per driver, without the need to call into platform specific interface, or to get called from platform specific code, as long as all information about the hardware is provided through a device tree. Most of the drivers we touch this time are for clocksource. Since now most of them are part of drivers/clocksource, I expect that we won't have to touch these again from arm-soc and can let the clocksource maintainers take care of these in the future. Another larger part of this series is specific to the exynos platform, which is seeing some significant effort in upstreaming and modernization of its device drivers this time around, which unfortunately is also the cause for the churn and a lot of the merge conflicts. There is one new subsystem that gets merged as part of this series: the reset controller interface, which is a very simple interface for taking devices on the SoC out of reset or back into reset. Patches to use this interface on i.MX follow later in this merge window, and we are going to have other platforms (at least tegra and sirf) get converted in 3.11. 2013-04-08clocksource: sunxi: Rename sunxi to sun4iMaxime Ripard
During the introduction of the Allwinner SoC platforms, sunxi was initially meant as a generic name for all the variants of the Allwinner SoC. It was ok at the time of the support of only the A10 and A13 that looks pretty much the same, but it's beginning to be troublesome with the future addition of the Allwinner A31 (sun6i) that is quite different, and would introduce some weird logic, where sunxi would actually mean in some case sun4i and sun5i but without sun6i... Moreover, it makes the compatible strings naming scheme not consistent with other architectures, where usually for this kind of compability, we just use the oldest SoC name that has this IP, so let's do just this. 2012-09-19ARM: bcm2835: add system timerSimon Arlott
The System Timer peripheral provides four 32-bit timer channels and a single 64-bit free running counter. Each channel has an output compare register, which is compared against the 32 least significant bits of the free running counter values, and generates an interrupt. Timer 3 is used as the Linux timer. The BCM2835 also contains an SP804-based timer module. However, it apparently has significant differences from the standard SP804 IP block, and Broadcom's documentation recommends using the system timer instead. This patch was extracted from git://github.com/lp0/linux.git branch rpi-split as of 2012/09/08, and modified as follows: * s/bcm2708/bcm2835/. * Modified device tree vendor prefix. * Moved to drivers/clocksource/. This looks like the desired location for such code now. * Added DT binding docs. * Moved struct sys_timer bcm2835_timer into time.c to encapsulate it more. * Simplified bcm2835_time_init() to find one matching node and operate on it, rather than looping over all matching nodes.
