2011-08-24docs/driver-model: Update device class docsBart Van Assche
The driver model documentation was added to the kernel tree before struct class was added to <linux/device.h>. Hence this patch that updates the paragraph about struct class in Documentation/driver-model/binding.txt. Signed-off-by: Bart Van Assche <bvanassche@acm.org> Cc: Randy Dunlap <rdunlap@xenotime.net> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
2011-08-24docs/driver-model: Document device.groupsBart Van Assche
Several drivers use device_create_file() where device.groups should be used instead. This patch documents that and also removes the comments about device classes since these should not be used in new code in the way documented until now in Documentation/driver-model/device.txt. 2011-08-24ALSA: hda - Remove the rest of ALC662 quirksTakashi Iwai
The rest of ALC662 quirks are only for desktops, and they should work with the auto-parser. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2011-08-24ALSA: hda - Remove ALC662 ASUS eeepc-ep20 model quirkTakashi Iwai
Since the recent fixes, this device works with the auto-parser well. Let's kill it. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>
2011-08-24ALSA: hda - Rewrite Lenovo X200 quirk with pincfg-fix using auto-parserTakashi Iwai
Introduce the pincfg table to patch_conexant.c for fixing up the extra pin-configuration for auto-parser. As an example, Lenovo X200 model is replaced with this new mechanism. (This also fixes the wrong mixer elements for docking-station I/O in the previous model quirk automagically.) Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

2011-08-24udlfb: Enable fb_defio by defaultBernie Thompson
Enables page fault based detection of mmap writes to the framebuffer, which allows standard fbdev apps (like the generic fbdev xorg driver) to work on DisplayLink devices. Not all bugs are shaken out of the fb_defio path of udlfb, but it's tantalizingly close, so this seems a good time to enable by default. Alternatively, option can be disabled when running with an xorg driver that can more directly communicate damaged regions of the framebuffer via IOCTL. This is a simpler, higher perf option, when available. Signed-off-by: Bernie Thompson <bernie@plugable.com> Signed-off-by: Florian Tobias Schandinat <FlorianSchandinat@gmx.de>
2011-08-24udlfb: Add module option to do without shadow framebufferStuart Hopkins
By default, udlfb allocates a 2nd buffer to shadow what's across the bus on the USB device. It can operate without this shadow, but then it cannot tell which pixels have changed, and must send all. Saves host memory, but worsens the USB 2.0 bus bottleneck. This option allows users in very low memory situations (e.g. bifferboard) to optionally turn off this shadow framebuffer. 2011-08-22docs/sysfs: Specify ABI documentation requirementsBart Van Assche
Although it is expected nowadays that every new sysfs attribute is documented under Documentation/ABI, this is not yet mentioned in the kernel documentation. This patch adds a note in the sysfs documentation about that requirement. 2011-08-22usb: Introduce DesignWare USB3 DRD DriverFelipe Balbi
The DesignWare USB3 is a highly configurable IP Core which can be instantiated as Dual-Role Device (DRD), Peripheral Only and Host Only (XHCI) configurations. Several other parameters can be configured like amount of FIFO space, amount of TX and RX endpoints, amount of Host Interrupters, etc. The current driver has been validated with a virtual model of version 1.73a of that core and with an FPGA burned with version 1.83a of the DRD core. We have support for PCIe bus, which is used on FPGA prototyping, and for the OMAP5, more adaptation (or glue) layers can be easily added and the driver is half prepared to handle any possible configuration the HW engineer has chosen considering we have the information on one of the GHWPARAMS registers to do runtime checking of certain features. More runtime checks can, and should, be added in order to make this driver even more flexible with regards to number of endpoints, FIFO sizes, transfer types, etc. While this supports only the device side, for now, we will add support for Host side (xHCI - see the updated series Sebastian has sent [1]) and OTG after we have it all stabilized. 2011-08-19PM / Runtime: Add macro to test for runtime PM eventsAlan Stern
This patch (as1482) adds a macro for testing whether or not a pm_message value represents an autosuspend or autoresume (i.e., a runtime PM) event. 2011-08-15lguest: allow booting guest with CONFIG_RELOCATABLE=yRusty Russell
The CONFIG_RELOCATABLE code tries to align the unpack destination to the value of 'kernel_alignment' in the setup_hdr. If that's 0, it tries to unpack to address 0, which in fact causes the gunzip code to call 'error("Out of memory while allocating output buffer")'. The bootloader (ie. the lguest Launcher in this case) should be doing setting this field; the normal bzImage is 16M, we can use the same.
