2011-09-26ARM: add an extra temp register to the low level debugging addruart macroNicolas Pitre
Some platforms (like OMAP not to name it) are doing rather complicated hacks just to determine the base UART address to use. Let's give their addruart macro some slack by providing an extra work register which will allow for much needed cleanups. This is basically a no-op as this commit is only adding the extra argument to the macro but no one is using it yet. 2011-08-12ARM: gpio: make trivial GPIOLIB implementation the defaultRussell King
Rather than marking the mach/gpio.h header files which want to use the trivial GPIOLIB implementation, mark those which do not want to use it instead. This means that by default, you get the trivial implementation and only have to do something extra if you need to. This should encourage the use of the trivial default implementation. As an additional bonus, several gpio.h header files become empty. Many of the gpio_to_irq implementations use the gpiolib version of this function. Provide the standard gpiolib gpio_to_irq() for everyone, but allow platforms to override it if they wish. Convert PCIBIOS_MIN_IO and PCIBIOS_MIN_MEM to variables to allow multi-platform builds. This also removes the requirement for a platform to have a mach/hardware.h. The default values for i/o and mem are 0x1000 and 0x01000000, respectively. Per Arnd Bergmann, other values are likely to be incorrect, but this commit does not try to address that issue. 2011-05-12ARM: use ARM_DMA_ZONE_SIZE to adjust the zone sizesRussell King
Rather than each platform providing its own function to adjust the zone sizes, use the new ARM_DMA_ZONE_SIZE definition to perform this adjustment. This ensures that the actual DMA zone size and the ISA_DMA_THRESHOLD/MAX_DMA_ADDRESS definitions are consistent with each other, and moves this complexity out of the platform code. The values of ISA_DMA_THRESHOLD and MAX_DMA_ADDRESS are related; one is the physical/bus address, the other is the virtual address. Both need to be kept in step, so rather than having platforms define both, allow them to define a single macro which sets both of these macros appropraitely. 2011-05-07ARM: zImage: remove the static qualifier from global data variablesNicolas Pitre
To be able to relocate the .bss section at run time independently from the rest of the code, we must make sure that no GOTOFF relocations are used with .bss symbols. This usually means that no global variables can be marked static unless they're also const. Let's remove the static qualifier from current offenders, or turn them into const variables when possible. Next commit will ensure the build fails if one of those is reintroduced due to otherwise enforced coding standards for the kernel. 2011-02-06arm/ixp4xx: Rename FREQ macro to avoid collisionsBen Hutchings

2010-12-08ARM: io: make iounmap() a simple macroRussell King

2010-10-20arm: return both physical and virtual addresses from addruartJeremy Kerr
Rather than checking the MMU status in every instance of addruart, do it once in kernel/debug.S, and change the existing addruart macros to return both physical and virtual addresses. The main debug code can then select the appropriate address to use. This will also allow us to retreive the address of a uart for the MMU state that we're not current in. 2010-09-22arm: fix "arm: fix pci_set_consistent_dma_mask for dmabounce devices"FUJITA Tomonori
This fixes the regression caused by the commit 6fee48cd330c68 ("dma-mapping: arm: use generic pci_set_dma_mask and pci_set_consistent_dma_mask"). ARM needs to clip the dma coherent mask for dmabounce devices. This restores the old trick. Note that strictly speaking, the DMA API doesn't allow architectures to do such but I'm not sure it's worth adding the new API to set the dma mask that allows architectures to clip it.
