2013-11-26ARM: u300: fix timekeeping when periodic mode is usedUwe Kleine-König
To determine the value to write to the hardware's timer counter register the symbol CLOCK_TICK_RATE is used. This value is a dummy value on u300 though. So instead use the clock rate that is used for oneshot mode. Signed-off-by: Uwe Kleine-König <u.kleine-koenig@pengutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip Pull timer core updates from Thomas Gleixner: "The timer changes contain: - posix timer code consolidation and fixes for odd corner cases - sched_clock implementation moved from ARM to core code to avoid duplication by other architectures - alarm timer updates - clocksource and clockevents unregistration facilities - clocksource/events support for new hardware - precise nanoseconds RTC readout (Xen feature) - generic support for Xen suspend/resume oddities - the usual lot of fixes and cleanups all over the place The parts which touch other areas (ARM/XEN) have been coordinated with the relevant maintainers. Though this results in an handful of trivial to solve merge conflicts, which we preferred over nasty cross tree merge dependencies. The patches which have been committed in the last few days are bug fixes plus the posix timer lot. The latter was in akpms queue and next for quite some time; they just got forgotten and Frederic collected them last minute." * 'timers-core-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip: (59 commits) hrtimer: Remove unused variable hrtimers: Move SMP function call to thread context clocksource: Reselect clocksource when watchdog validated high-res capability posix-cpu-timers: don't account cpu timer after stopped thread runtime accounting posix_timers: fix racy timer delta caching on task exit posix-timers: correctly get dying task time sample in posix_cpu_timer_schedule() selftests: add basic posix timers selftests posix_cpu_timers: consolidate expired timers check posix_cpu_timers: consolidate timer list cleanups posix_cpu_timer: consolidate expiry time type tick: Sanitize broadcast control logic tick: Prevent uncontrolled switch to oneshot mode tick: Make oneshot broadcast robust vs. CPU offlining x86: xen: Sync the CMOS RTC as well as the Xen wallclock x86: xen: Sync the wallclock when the system time is set timekeeping: Indicate that clock was set in the pvclock gtod notifier timekeeping: Pass flags instead of multiple bools to timekeeping_update() xen: Remove clock_was_set() call in the resume path hrtimers: Support resuming with two or more CPUs online (but stopped) timer: Fix jiffies wrap behavior of round_jiffies_common() ...
2013-06-17ARM: u300: move the gated system controller clocks to DTLinus Walleij
This moves the slow, fast, AHB bridge and "rest" clocks on the U300 system controller over to registration from the device tree. Acked-by: Mike Turquette <mturquette@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>
2013-06-17ARM: u300: delete <mach/irqs.h>Linus Walleij
All IRQs are now obtained from the device tree, and this file is unused, so delete it. Acked-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>
2013-06-17ARM: u300: delete <mach/hardware.h>Linus Walleij
This file is now unused and can be deleted. Acked-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>
2013-06-17ARM: u300: delete all static board dataLinus Walleij
We have now transferred all the U300 peripherals to the device tree, so we just select USE_OF, and delete all static board data, then require that this platform shall be booted using the device tree and nothing else. This gets rid of the MMCI (PL180), PL022, and serial PL011 platform data entries and more. Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>
2013-06-12sched_clock: Make ARM's sched_clock generic for all architecturesStephen Boyd
Nothing about the sched_clock implementation in the ARM port is specific to the architecture. Generalize the code so that other architectures can use it by selecting GENERIC_SCHED_CLOCK. 2013-05-31ARM: u300: device tree support for the timerLinus Walleij
This adds device tree support for the U300 timer, by making the memory base offset and IRQ dynamically assigned, then optionally looking them up from the device tree. Since the timer needs to be registered before any platform devices are created, we will go into the device tree and look up the "/timer@c0014000" node and read our base address and IRQ from there. Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>
2013-05-31ARM: u300: enable delaytimer on the U300Linus Walleij
The U300 can support timer-based delays, so implement this. Skips past jiffy calibration. Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>
2012-12-24ARM: delete struct sys_timerStephen Warren
Now that the only field in struct sys_timer is .init, delete the struct, and replace the machine descriptor .timer field with the initialization function itself. This will enable moving timer drivers into drivers/clocksource without having to place a public prototype of each struct sys_timer object into include/linux; the intent is to create a single of_clocksource_init() function that determines which timer driver to initialize by scanning the device dtree, much like the proposed irqchip_init() at: http://www.spinics.net/lists/arm-kernel/msg203686.html Includes mach-omap2 fixes from Igor Grinberg. Tested-by: Robert Jarzmik <robert.jarzmik@free.fr> Signed-off-by: Stephen Warren <swarren@nvidia.com>
2012-08-13ARM: u300: convert to sparse IRQsLinus Walleij
This converts the U300 to use sparse IRQs, which is simple now that the number of machines are reduced. Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>
2012-08-13ARM: u300: merge u300.c into core.c and rid headersLinus Walleij
This gets rid of the separate u300.c file in mach-u300 since it can just as well live right in core.c, then we also get rid of the broadcasted <mach/platform.h> file that is not helping anyone. Put the interface to the system timer into a separate header. Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org>
2012-07-11ARM: u300: convert to common clockLinus Walleij
This converts the U300 clock implementation over to use the common struct clk and moves the implementation down into drivers/clk. Since VCO isn't used in tree it was removed, it's not hard to put it back in if need be. Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org> [mturquette@linaro.org: trivial Makefile conflict] Signed-off-by: Mike Turquette <mturquette@linaro.org>
2011-12-18ARM: 7205/2: sched_clock: allow sched_clock to be selected at runtimeMarc Zyngier
sched_clock() is yet another blocker on the road to the single image. This patch implements an idea by Russell King: http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-omap/msg49561.html Instead of asking the platform to implement both sched_clock() itself and the rollover callback, simply register a read() function, and let the ARM code care about sched_clock() itself, the conversion to ns and the rollover. sched_clock() uses this read() function as an indirection to the platform code. If the platform doesn't provide a read(), the code falls back to the jiffy counter (just like the default sched_clock). This allow some simplifications and possibly some footprint gain when multiple platforms are compiled in. Among the drawbacks, the removal of the *_fixed_sched_clock optimization which could negatively impact some platforms (sa1100, tegra, versatile and omap). Tested on 11MPCore, OMAP4 and Tegra. 2011-06-06ARM: 6947/2: mach-u300: fix compilation error in timerLinus Walleij
The introduction of the mmio timer accidentally referenced the old clocksource struct which does not exist anymore. Fix this by using a simple string instead. Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>

2010-12-22ARM: U300: update clock source registrationRussell King
In d7e81c2 (clocksource: Add clocksource_register_hz/khz interface) new interfaces were added which simplify (and optimize) the selection of the divisor shift/mult constants. Switch over to using this new interface. Acked-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@stericsson.com> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2010-08-10ARM: 6297/1: move U300 timer to dynamic clock lookupLinus Walleij
This moves the U300 timer code to look up its clock rate from the clock framework as is apropriate and also switches it over to use the generic code for *calc_mult_shift() on clock source and clock event. Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@stericsson.com> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2010-08-10ARM: 6296/1: clock U300 intcon and timer properlyLinus Walleij
This removes the quirks to clock the U300 VIC and timer by custom hooks and moves the control out to the clock framework where it belongs. This is possible now that clocks are available early. 2009-09-18ARM: 5704/1: U300 sched_clock implementation v2Linus Walleij
This adds the long debated sched_clock() override for the weak in-kernel jiffybased sched_clock(). The implementation is more or less identical to the one used in arch/arm/plat-omap/common.c and at last attempt to merge this the merge was postponed at the request of Peter Zijlstra due to pending discussions regarding generalized clocksource-based sched_clock() implementations by adding a flag to the clocksource. However that discussion ended up with the generic code needing to be rewritten and Paul Mundt see no reason not to proceed with this for the time being as it can be easily converted once the generic code is in place.
