Boards used to specify zreladdr in their Makefile.boot with zreladdr-y := x, so conflicting zreladdrs were silently overwritten. This patch changes this to zreladdr-y += x, so that we end up with multiple words in zreladdr in such a case. We can detect this later and complain if necessary. 2011-09-26ARM: add an extra temp register to the low level debugging addruart macroNicolas Pitre
Some platforms (like OMAP not to name it) are doing rather complicated hacks just to determine the base UART address to use. Let's give their addruart macro some slack by providing an extra work register which will allow for much needed cleanups. This is basically a no-op as this commit is only adding the extra argument to the macro but no one is using it yet. 2011-08-12ARM: gpio: make trivial GPIOLIB implementation the defaultRussell King
Rather than marking the mach/gpio.h header files which want to use the trivial GPIOLIB implementation, mark those which do not want to use it instead. This means that by default, you get the trivial implementation and only have to do something extra if you need to. This should encourage the use of the trivial default implementation. As an additional bonus, several gpio.h header files become empty. Many of the gpio_to_irq implementations use the gpiolib version of this function. Provide the standard gpiolib gpio_to_irq() for everyone, but allow platforms to override it if they wish. For testing the dt work, define a dt-enabled versatile platform. This patch adds a new versatile platform for when using the device tree. Add platform and amba devices are discovered and registered by parsing the device tree. Clocks and initial io mappings are still configured statically. This patch still depends on some static platform_data for a few devices which is passed via the auxdata structure to of_platform_populate(), but it is a viable starting point until the drivers can get all configuration data out of the device tree. 2011-07-22PCI: Make the struct pci_dev * argument of pci_fixup_irqs const.Ralf Baechle
Aside of the usual motivation for constification, this function has a history of being abused a hook for interrupt and other fixups so I turned this function const ages ago in the MIPS code but it should be done treewide. Due to function pointer passing in varous places a few other functions had to be constified as well. Convert PCIBIOS_MIN_IO and PCIBIOS_MIN_MEM to variables to allow multi-platform builds. This also removes the requirement for a platform to have a mach/hardware.h. The default values for i/o and mem are 0x1000 and 0x01000000, respectively. Per Arnd Bergmann, other values are likely to be incorrect, but this commit does not try to address that issue. map_info The set_vpp() method provided by physmap passes a map_info back to the platform code, which has little relevance as far as the platform is concerned (this parameter is completely unused). Instead, pass the platform_device, which can be used in the pismo driver to retrieve some important information in a nicer way, instead of the hack that was in place. The empty set_vpp function in board-at572d940hf_ek.c is left untouched, as the board/SoC is scheduled for removal. Commit 7c63984b86 (ARM: do not define VMALLOC_END relative to PAGE_OFFSET) changed VMALLOC_END to be an explicit value. Before this, it was relative to PAGE_OFFSET and therefore converted to unsigned long as PAGE_OFFSET is an unsigned long. This introduced the following build warning. Fix this by changing the explicit defines of VMALLOC_END to be unsigned long. 2010-10-20arm: return both physical and virtual addresses from addruartJeremy Kerr
Rather than checking the MMU status in every instance of addruart, do it once in kernel/debug.S, and change the existing addruart macros to return both physical and virtual addresses. The main debug code can then select the appropriate address to use. This will also allow us to retreive the address of a uart for the MMU state that we're not current in. VMALLOC_END is supposed to be an absolute value, while PAGE_OFFSET may vary depending on the selected user:kernel memory split mode through CONFIG_VMSPLIT_*. In fact, the goal of moving PAGE_OFFSET down is to accommodate more directly addressed RAM by the kernel below the vmalloc area, and having VMALLOC_END move along PAGE_OFFSET is rather against the very reason why PAGE_OFFSET can be moved in the first place.
