2012-10-13ARM: config: sort select statements alphanumericallyRussell King
As suggested by Andrew Morton: This is a pet peeve of mine. Any time there's a long list of items (header file inclusions, kconfig entries, array initalisers, etc) and someone wants to add a new item, they *always* go and stick it at the end of the list. Guys, don't do this. Either put the new item into a randomly-chosen position or, probably better, alphanumerically sort the list. lets sort all our select statements alphanumerically. This commit was created by the following perl: while (<>) { while (/\\\s*$/) { $_ .= <>; } undef %selects if /^\s*config\s+/; if (/^\s+select\s+(\w+).*/) { if (defined($selects{$1})) { if ($selects{$1} eq $_) { print STDERR "Warning: removing duplicated $1 entry\n"; } else { print STDERR "Error: $1 differently selected\n". "\tOld: $selects{$1}\n". "\tNew: $_\n"; exit 1; } } $selects{$1} = $_; next; } if (%selects and (/^\s*$/ or /^\s+help/ or /^\s+---help---/ or /^endif/ or /^endchoice/)) { foreach $k (sort (keys %selects)) { print "$selects{$k}"; } undef %selects; } print; } if (%selects) { foreach $k (sort (keys %selects)) { print "$selects{$k}"; } } It found two duplicates: Warning: removing duplicated S5P_SETUP_MIPIPHY entry Warning: removing duplicated HARDIRQS_SW_RESEND entry and they are identical duplicates, hence the shrinkage in the diffstat of two lines. We have four testers reporting success of this change (Tony, Stephen, Linus and Sekhar.) 2012-09-14ARM: make mach/gpio.h headers optionalRob Herring
Most platforms don't need mach/gpio.h and it prevents multi-platform kernel images. Add CONFIG_NEED_MACH_GPIO_H and make platforns select it if they need gpio.h. 2012-08-01Merge branch 'dmaengine' of git://git.linaro.org/people/rmk/linux-armLinus Torvalds
Pull ARM DMA engine updates from Russell King: "This looks scary at first glance, but what it is is: - a rework of the sa11x0 DMA engine driver merged during the previous cycle, to extract a common set of helper functions for DMA engine implementations. - conversion of amba-pl08x.c to use these helper functions. - addition of OMAP DMA engine driver (using these helper functions), and conversion of some of the OMAP DMA users to use DMA engine. Nothing in the helper functions is ARM specific, so I hope that other implementations can consolidate some of their code by making use of these helpers. This has been sitting in linux-next most of the merge cycle, and has been tested by several OMAP folk. I've tested it on sa11x0 platforms, and given it my best shot on my broken platforms which have the amba-pl08x controller. The last point is the addition to feature-removal-schedule.txt, which will have a merge conflict. Between myself and TI, we're planning to remove the old TI DMA implementation next year." 2012-07-13Input: spear_keyboard - reconfigure operating frequency on suspendShiraz Hashim
On some platform it may happen that the input clock to keyboard may change during suspend, thus impacting its wakeup capability. There is no means for keyboard driver to know this frequency before hand. Hence introduce a platform data 'suspended_rate' which indicates the frequency during suspend at which keyboard operates. Accordingly reprogram keyboard while going into suspend and restore original configuration at the time of resume. 2012-04-22ARM: spear: remove most mach/*.h header contentsArnd Bergmann
The register and irq definitions in mach/*.h for spear3xx and spear6xx are now mostly obsolete, after the platforms have been converted to device tree based probing and the data is now part of the device tree files. The misc_regs.h contents are moved into clock.c because that is the only user, aside from the DMA_CHN_CFG that should eventually get handled differently. Some of the contents of mach/spear.h still remain, because they are used to set up the static map table, timer, uart and auxdata tables, but almost everything got removed. We might remove everything but the map table as the DT conversion completes, but that is not a priority. I've also made sure to make both copies of spear.h more or less identical so we can eventually combine them. The spear3?0.h files were only used by the spear3?0.c files, so I merged the contents in there and removed the bits that were unused. This is something that should still be looked at. 2012-04-22ARM: SPEAr3xx: Add device-tree support to SPEAr3xx architectureViresh Kumar
This patch adds a generic target for SPEAr3xx machines that can be configured via the device-tree. Currently the following devices are supported via the devicetree: - VIC interrupts - PL011 UART - PL061 GPIO - PL110 CLCD - SP805 WDT - Synopsys DW I2C - Synopsys DW ethernet - ST FSMC-NAND - ST SPEAR-SMI - ST SPEAR-KEYBOARD - ST SPEAR-RTC - ARASAN SDHCI-SPEAR - SPEAR-EHCI - SPEAR-OHCI Other peripheral devices will follow in later patches. This also removes IO_ADDRESS macro and creates 16 MB static mappings instead of 4K for individual peripherals. This is done to have efficient TLB lookup for any I/O windows that are located closely together. ioremap() on this range will return this mapping only instead of creating another. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-asm_system Pull "Disintegrate and delete asm/system.h" from David Howells: "Here are a bunch of patches to disintegrate asm/system.h into a set of separate bits to relieve the problem of circular inclusion dependencies. I've built all the working defconfigs from all the arches that I can and made sure that they don't break. The reason for these patches is that I recently encountered a circular dependency problem that came about when I produced some patches to optimise get_order() by rewriting it to use ilog2(). This uses bitops - and on the SH arch asm/bitops.h drags in asm-generic/get_order.h by a circuituous route involving asm/system.h. The main difficulty seems to be asm/system.h. It holds a number of low level bits with no/few dependencies that are commonly used (eg. memory barriers) and a number of bits with more dependencies that aren't used in many places (eg. switch_to()). These patches break asm/system.h up into the following core pieces: (1) asm/barrier.h Move memory barriers here. This already done for MIPS and Alpha. (2) asm/switch_to.h Move switch_to() and related stuff here. (3) asm/exec.h Move arch_align_stack() here. Other process execution related bits could perhaps go here from asm/processor.h. (4) asm/cmpxchg.h Move xchg() and cmpxchg() here as they're full word atomic ops and frequently used by atomic_xchg() and atomic_cmpxchg(). (5) asm/bug.h Move die() and related bits. (6) asm/auxvec.h Move AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH here. Other arch headers are created as needed on a per-arch basis." Fixed up some conflicts from other header file cleanups and moving code around that has happened in the meantime, so David's testing is somewhat weakened by that. 2012-01-05ARM: restart: remove the now empty arch_reset()Russell King
Remove the now empty arch_reset() from all the mach/system.h includes, and remove its callsite. Remove arm_machine_restart() as this function no longer does anything useful. For samsung platforms, remove the include of mach/system-reset.h and plat/system-reset.h from their respective mach/system.h headers as these just define their arch_reset functions. As a result, the s3c2410 and plat-samsung system-reset.h files are no longer referenced, so remove these files entirely. 2011-11-21ARM: restart: only perform setup for restart when soft-restartingRussell King
We only need to set the system up for a soft-restart if we're going to be doing a soft-restart. Provide a new function (soft_restart()) which does the setup and final call for this, and make platforms use it. Eliminate the call to setup_restart() from the default handler. This means that platforms arch_reset() function is no longer called with the page tables prepared for a soft-restart, and caches will still be enabled. 2011-09-26ARM: add an extra temp register to the low level debugging addruart macroNicolas Pitre
Some platforms (like OMAP not to name it) are doing rather complicated hacks just to determine the base UART address to use. Let's give their addruart macro some slack by providing an extra work register which will allow for much needed cleanups. This is basically a no-op as this commit is only adding the extra argument to the macro but no one is using it yet. 2011-08-12ARM: gpio: make trivial GPIOLIB implementation the defaultRussell King
Rather than marking the mach/gpio.h header files which want to use the trivial GPIOLIB implementation, mark those which do not want to use it instead. This means that by default, you get the trivial implementation and only have to do something extra if you need to. This should encourage the use of the trivial default implementation. As an additional bonus, several gpio.h header files become empty. Many of the gpio_to_irq implementations use the gpiolib version of this function. Provide the standard gpiolib gpio_to_irq() for everyone, but allow platforms to override it if they wish.
