2011-12-06ASoC: WM8903: Fix platform data gpio_cfg confusionStephen Warren
wm8903_platform_data.gpio_cfg[] was intended to be interpreted as follows: 0: Don't touch this GPIO's configuration register 1..7fff: Write that value to the GPIO's configuration register 8000: Write zero to the GPIO's configuration register other: Undefined (invalid) The rationale is that platform data is usually global data, and a value of zero means that the field wasn't explicitly set to anything (e.g. because the field was new to the pdata type, and existing users weren't update to initialize it) and hence the value zero should be ignored. 0x8000 is an explicit way to get 0 in the register. The code worked this way until commit 7cfe561 "ASoC: wm8903: Expose GPIOs through gpiolib", where the behaviour was changed due to my lack of awareness of the above rationale. This patch reverts to the intended behaviour, and updates all in-tree users to use the correct scheme. This also makes WM8903 consistent with other devices that use a similar scheme. WM8903_GPIO_NO_CONFIG is also renamed to WM8903_GPIO_CONFIG_ZERO so that its name accurately reflects its purpose. 2011-11-06cpuidle: Single/Global registration of idle statesDeepthi Dharwar
This patch makes the cpuidle_states structure global (single copy) instead of per-cpu. The statistics needed on per-cpu basis by the governor are kept per-cpu. This simplifies the cpuidle subsystem as state registration is done by single cpu only. Having single copy of cpuidle_states saves memory. Rare case of asymmetric C-states can be handled within the cpuidle driver and architectures such as POWER do not have asymmetric C-states. Having single/global registration of all the idle states, dynamic C-state transitions on x86 are handled by the boot cpu. Here, the boot cpu would disable all the devices, re-populate the states and later enable all the devices, irrespective of the cpu that would receive the notification first. 2011-11-06cpuidle: Split cpuidle_state structure and move per-cpu statistics fieldsDeepthi Dharwar
This is the first step towards global registration of cpuidle states. The statistics used primarily by the governor are per-cpu and have to be split from rest of the fields inside cpuidle_state, which would be made global i.e. single copy. The driver_data field is also per-cpu and moved. 2011-11-06cpuidle: Move dev->last_residency update to driver enter routine; remove ↵Deepthi Dharwar
dev->last_state Cpuidle governor only suggests the state to enter using the governor->select() interface, but allows the low level driver to override the recommended state. The actual entered state may be different because of software or hardware demotion. Software demotion is done by the back-end cpuidle driver and can be accounted correctly. Current cpuidle code uses last_state field to capture the actual state entered and based on that updates the statistics for the state entered. Ideally the driver enter routine should update the counters, and it should return the state actually entered rather than the time spent there. The generic cpuidle code should simply handle where the counters live in the sysfs namespace, not updating the counters. 2011-11-06ARM: EXYNOS: Add ARCH_EXYNOS and reorganize arch/arm/mach-exynosKukjin Kim
The arch/arm/mach-exynos4 directory (CONFIG_ARCH_EXYNOS4) has made for plaforms based on EXYNOS4 SoCs. But since upcoming Samsung's SoCs such as EXYNOS5 (ARM Cortex A15) can reuse most codes in current mach-exynos4, one mach-exynos directory will be used for them. This patch changes to CONFIG_ARCH_EXYNOS (arch/arm/mach-exynos) but keeps original CONFIG_ARCH_EXYNOS4 in mach-exynos/Kconfig to avoid changing in driver side. 2011-11-04ARM: OMAP: change get_context_loss_count ret value to intTomi Valkeinen
get_context_loss_count functions return context loss count as u32, and zero means an error. However, zero is also returned when context has never been lost and could also be returned when the context loss count has wrapped and goes to zero. Change the functions to return an int, with negative value meaning an error. OMAP HSMMC code uses omap_pm_get_dev_context_loss_count(), but as the hsmmc code handles the returned value as an int, with negative value meaning an error, this patch actually fixes hsmmc code also. 2011-11-04ARM: OMAP3: hwmod: fix variant registration and remove SmartReflex from ↵Paul Walmsley
common list Commit d6504acd2125984c61dce24727dd3842d0144015 ("OMAP2+: hwmod: remove OMAP_CHIP*") tests the inverse condition of what it should be testing for the return value from omap_hwmod_register(). This causes several IP blocks to not be registered on several OMAP3 family devices. Fixing that bug also unmasked another bug, originally reported by Chase Maupin <chase.maupin@ti.com> and then subsequently by Abhilash K V <abhilash.kv@ti.com>, which caused SmartReflex IP blocks to be registered on SoCs that don't support them. 2011-11-04ARM: OMAP: I2C: Fix omap_register_i2c_bus() return value on successLaurent Pinchart
Commit 4d17aeb1c5b2375769446d13012a98e6d265ec13 ("OMAP: I2C: split device registration and convert OMAP2+ to omap_device") makes omap2_i2c_add_bus() return a pointer to an omap_device instead on success instead of 0. This breaks the omap_register_i2c_bus() ABI and results in the igep0020 board code detecting an I2C bus registration error when there is none. Fix the problem by using PTR_RET() instead of PTR_ERR() in omap2_i2c_add_bus().
