2011-01-31h8300: Switch do_timer() to xtime_update()Torben Hohn
xtime_update() takes the xtime_lock itself. 2010-03-13h8300: Convert h8300 to use read/update_persistent_clockJohn Stultz
This patch converts the h8300 architecture to use the generic read_persistent_clock and update_persistent_clock interfaces, reducing the amount of arch specific code we have to maintain, and allowing for further cleanups in the future. I have not built or tested this patch, so help from arch maintainers would be appreciated. 2007-05-07Convert h8/300 to generic timekeepingjohn stultz
Currently h8/300 does not implement sub-jiffy timekeeping, so there is no benefit to having arch specific timekeeping code. This patch simply removes those functions and enables the generic timekeeping code. 2006-09-29[PATCH] simplify update_times (avoid jiffies/jiffies_64 aliasing problem)Atsushi Nemoto
Pass ticks to do_timer() and update_times(), and adjust x86_64 and s390 timer interrupt handler with this change. Currently update_times() calculates ticks by "jiffies - wall_jiffies", but callers of do_timer() should know how many ticks to update. Passing ticks get rid of this redundant calculation. Also there are another redundancy pointed out by Martin Schwidefsky. This cleanup make a barrier added by 5aee405c662ca644980c184774277fc6d0769a84 needless. So this patch removes it. As a bonus, this cleanup make wall_jiffies can be removed easily, since now wall_jiffies is always synced with jiffies. (This patch does not really remove wall_jiffies. It would be another cleanup patch) Signed-off-by: Atsushi Nemoto <anemo@mba.ocn.ne.jp> Cc: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com> Cc: "Eric W. 2005-09-07[PATCH] NTP: ntp-helper functionsjohn stultz
This patch cleans up a commonly repeated set of changes to the NTP state variables by adding two helper inline functions: ntp_clear(): Clears the ntp state variables ntp_synced(): Returns 1 if the system is synced with a time server. This was compile tested for alpha, arm, i386, x86-64, ppc64, s390, sparc, sparc64. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
