2009-01-13powerpc: Change u64/s64 to a long long integer typeIngo Molnar
Convert arch/powerpc/ over to long long based u64: -#ifdef __powerpc64__ -# include <asm-generic/int-l64.h> -#else -# include <asm-generic/int-ll64.h> -#endif +#include <asm-generic/int-ll64.h> This will avoid reoccuring spurious warnings in core kernel code that comes when people test on their own hardware. (i.e. x86 in ~98% of the cases) This is what x86 uses and it generally helps keep 64-bit code 32-bit clean too. 2007-11-20[POWERPC] Fix build failure on legacy iSeriesKamalesh Babulal
Include <asm/iseries/hv_call.h> in arch/powerpc/mm/stab.c to fix the following compile error (found with randconfig): CC arch/powerpc/mm/stab.o arch/powerpc/mm/stab.c: In function "stab_initialize": arch/powerpc/mm/stab.c:282: error: implicit declaration of function "HvCall1" arch/powerpc/mm/stab.c:282: error: "HvCallBaseSetASR" undeclared (first use in this function) arch/powerpc/mm/stab.c:282: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once arch/powerpc/mm/stab.c:282: error: for each function it appears in.) make[1]: *** [arch/powerpc/mm/stab.o] Error 1 make: *** [arch/powerpc/mm] Error 2 Signed-off-by: Kamalesh Babulal <kamalesh@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Acked-by: Stephen Rothwell <sfr@canb.auug.org.au> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2007-10-12[POWERPC] Use 1TB segmentsPaul Mackerras
This makes the kernel use 1TB segments for all kernel mappings and for user addresses of 1TB and above, on machines which support them (currently POWER5+, POWER6 and PA6T). We detect that the machine supports 1TB segments by looking at the ibm,processor-segment-sizes property in the device tree. We don't currently use 1TB segments for user addresses < 1T, since that would effectively prevent 32-bit processes from using huge pages unless we also had a way to revert to using 256MB segments. That would be possible but would involve extra complications (such as keeping track of which segment size was used when HPTEs were inserted) and is not addressed here. Parts of this patch were originally written by Ben Herrenschmidt. Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2007-07-10[POWERPC] Move inline asm eieio to using eieio inline functionKumar Gala
Use the eieio function so we can redefine what eieio does rather than direct inline asm. This is part code clean up and partially because not all PPCs have eieio (book-e has mbar that maps to eieio). Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-05-08[POWERPC] Add __init annotations to reserve_mem() and stabs_alloc()Michael Ellerman
reserve_mem() and stabs_alloc() are both called only from other __init routines, so can be marked __init. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <michael@ellerman.id.au> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>

2006-06-12powerpc: Remove unused paca->pgdir fieldPaul Mackerras
The pgdir field in the paca was a leftover from the dynamic VSIDs patch, and is not used in the current kernel code. This removes it. Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2006-03-29[PATCH] for_each_possible_cpu: powerpcKAMEZAWA Hiroyuki
for_each_cpu() actually iterates across all possible CPUs. We've had mistakes in the past where people were using for_each_cpu() where they should have been iterating across only online or present CPUs. This is inefficient and possibly buggy. We're renaming for_each_cpu() to for_each_possible_cpu() to avoid this in the future. This patch replaces for_each_cpu with for_each_possible_cpu. 2006-02-07[PATCH] powerpc: Always panic if lmb_alloc() failsMichael Ellerman
Currently most callers of lmb_alloc() don't check if it worked or not, if it ever does weird bad things will probably happen. The few callers who do check just panic or BUG_ON. So make lmb_alloc() panic internally, to catch bugs at the source. The few callers who did check the result no longer need to. The only caller that did anything interesting with the return result was careful_allocation(). For it we create __lmb_alloc_base() which _doesn't_ panic automatically, a little messy, but passable. 2006-01-09[PATCH] powerpc: Separate usage of KERNELBASE and PAGE_OFFSETMichael Ellerman
This patch separates usage of KERNELBASE and PAGE_OFFSET. I haven't looked at any of the PPC32 code, if we ever want to support Kdump on PPC we'll have to do another audit, ditto for iSeries. This patch makes PAGE_OFFSET the constant, it'll always be 0xC * 1 gazillion for 64-bit. To get a physical address from a virtual one you subtract PAGE_OFFSET, _not_ KERNELBASE. KERNELBASE is the virtual address of the start of the kernel, it's often the same as PAGE_OFFSET, but _might not be_. If you want to know something's offset from the start of the kernel you should subtract KERNELBASE. 2006-01-09[PATCH] powerpc: Add a is_kernel_addr() macroMichael Ellerman
There's a bunch of code that compares an address with KERNELBASE to see if it's a "kernel address", ie. >= KERNELBASE. The proper test is actually to compare with PAGE_OFFSET, since we're going to change KERNELBASE soon. So replace all of them with an is_kernel_addr() macro that does that. 2005-12-05[PATCH] powerpc: remove redundant code in stab initOlof Johansson
There's never been a hardware platform that has both pSeries/RPA LPAR hypervisor and stab (pre-POWER4 segment management). This removes the redundant code in stab_initalize(). Signed-off-by: Olof Johansson <olof@lixom.net> Signed-off-by: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org>
2005-11-10[PATCH] powerpc: merge code values for identifying platformsPaul Mackerras
This patch merges platform codes. systemcfg->platform is no longer used, systemcfg use in general is deprecated as much as possible (and renamed _systemcfg before it gets completely moved elsewhere in a future patch), _machine is now used on ppc64 along as ppc32. Platform codes aren't gone yet but we are getting a step closer. A bunch of asm code in head[_64].S is also turned into C code. 2005-11-06[PATCH] ppc64: support 64k pagesBenjamin Herrenschmidt
Adds a new CONFIG_PPC_64K_PAGES which, when enabled, changes the kernel base page size to 64K. The resulting kernel still boots on any hardware. On current machines with 4K pages support only, the kernel will maintain 16 "subpages" for each 64K page transparently. Note that while real 64K capable HW has been tested, the current patch will not enable it yet as such hardware is not released yet, and I'm still verifying with the firmware architects the proper to get the information from the newer hypervisors. 2005-10-10powerpc: Merge arch/ppc64/mm to arch/powerpc/mmPaul Mackerras
