2007-08-10[POWERPC] Revert "[POWERPC] Add 'mdio' to bus scan id list for platforms ↵Kim Phillips
with QE UEC" This reverts commit 3baee955953957be5496cd28e9c544d9db214262. That commit was a mistake from the start; I added mdio type to the bus scan list early on in my ucc_geth migrate to phylib development, which is just pure wrong (the ucc_geth_mii driver creates the mii bus and the PHY layer handles PHY enumeration without translation). This follows on from commit 77926826f301fbd8ed96d3cd9ff17a5b59560dfb: Revert "[POWERPC] Don't complain if size-cells == 0 in prom_parse()" which was basically trying to hide a symptom of the original mistake this revert fixes. 2007-07-23[POWERPC] Make endianess of cfg_addr for indirect pci ops runtimeKumar Gala
Make it so we do a runtime check to know if we need to write cfg_addr as big or little endian. This is needed if we want to allow 86xx support to co-exist in the same kernel as other 6xx PPCs. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-07-10[POWERPC] 83xx: Add USB support to mpc8349-mitx board portGrant Likely

2007-07-10[POWERPC] 83xx: USB platform code reworkLi Yang
Add 831x USB platform setup code and rework 834x USB platform setup code. Move USB platform code to usb.c for different boards with CPU of the same series to share the USB initialization code. 2007-06-29[POWERPC] Merge ppc32 and ppc64 pcibios_alloc_controller() prototypesKumar Gala
Make the ppc32 pcibios_alloc_controller take a device node to match the ppc64 prototypes and have it set arch_data. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-06-29[POWERPC] Removed remnants of bus_offsetKumar Gala
Removed the remants of bus_offset and use self_busno in the mv64x60 case and use pci_assign_all_buses on 83xx/85xx. 83xx/85xx have multiple PHBs and the firmwares on these devices tend not to handle topologies with P2P bridges well so we let Linux just reassign the bus numbers to match. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-06-29[POWERPC] Remove hack to determine the 2nd PHBs bus numberKumar Gala
Now that we have the pci_controller in the exclude function we can easy figure out if the bus number is the PHB or not. The old style of using a variable setup at init time was actually broken and would only work in specific cases. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-06-29[POWERPC] Pass the pci_controller into pci_exclude_deviceKumar Gala
There are times that we need to know which controller we are on to decide how to exclude devices properly. We now pass the pci_controller that we are going to use down to the pci_exclude_device function. This will greatly simplify being able to exclude the PHBs in multiple controller setups. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-06-29[POWERPC] Remove set_cfg_type for PCI indirect users that don't need itKumar Gala
The Freescale and Marvell PCI controllers dont require explicit setting for type 1 config cycles. They handle producing them by implicitly looking at the bus, devfn. The TSI108 and 52xx don't use the generic PCI indirect code and thus don't bother with set_cfg_type. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-06-29[POWERPC] kill isa_{io,mem}_base definitions for !PCIArnd Bergmann
When CONFIG_PCI is disabled, the definitions for isa_io_base, isa_mem_base and pci_dram_offset are entirely unused, but they can result in link failure because they are defined in multiple places. The easiest fix is to just remove all these definitions. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>
2007-06-29[POWERPC] rename add_bridge to avoid namespace clashesArnd Bergmann
Many platforms currently define their own add_bridge function, some of them globally. This breaks some multiplatform configurations. Prefixing each of these functions with the platform name avoids this problem. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>
2007-06-29[POWERPC] move 82xx/83xx/86xx Kconfig options to platform selectionArnd Bergmann
The cores used in the MPC82xx/83xx/86xx embedded controllers are very similar to those in the 32 bit general-purpose processors, so it makes sense to treat them as the same CPU family. Choosing between the embedded platforms and the multiplatform code is now done in the platform menu, but functionally everything stays the same. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>

2007-02-17[POWERPC] 83xx: Updated and renamed MPC8360PB to MPC836x MDSKumar Gala
The MPC836x PB board is really just one part of the MPC836x MDS. We currently name all other PB boards as MDS. Removed all references to PB and replaced with MDS. Additionally renamed the .dts to match the defconfig (mpc836x_mds*). Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-02-17[POWERPC] 83xx: Use of_platform_bus_probe to setup QE devicesKumar Gala
Use of_platform_bus_probe to setup devices on the of_platform_bus since its much cleaner. We explicitly specify the bus ids since the we want to get rid of the default mechanism in the future. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-02-17[POWERPC] 83xx: use default value of loops_per_jiffyKumar Gala
Use the default value setup by initialization of loops_per_jiffy, its close enough for 83xx and will get fixed up by calibrate_delay(). Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>

2007-02-17[POWERPC] 83xx: Cleaning up machine probing and board initcallsKumar Gala
Cleaned up the probing functionality to be more consistent across all 83xx boards and added machine_is() protection around board initcalls to ensure they only do something if we are actually running on that board. Additionally, removed some dead code on mpc832x_mds. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-02-09[POWERPC] 83xx: Updated and renamed MPC834x SYS to MPC834x MDSKumar Gala

2007-01-26[POWERPC] 83xx: Don't call ioremap in the reset functionKumar Gala
It's possibly that we get an reset requestion when interrupts are disabled. (For example an oops in an interrupt handler). Therefor, we can't call ioremap in the reset function. Moving the ioremap of the registers we need access to an arch_initcall helps the problem. However we still have a window between boot and the arch_initcall in which the register pointer will not be setup and thus we spin if the reset function is called. If one needs to ensure even this case is covered, look at use of the watchdog provided on 83xx to reset the processor. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2007-01-22[POWERPC] Fix OF node refcnt underflow in 836x and 832x platform codeLi Yang
Incorrect use of of_find_node_by_name() causes of_node_put() on a node which has already been put. It causes the refcount of the node to underflow, which triggers the WARN_ON in kref_get for 836x and 832x. This fixes it. 2006-12-04[POWERPC] Remove ppc_md.pci_map_irq & ppc_swizzle for ARCH=powerpcBenjamin Herrenschmidt
These were inherited from ARCH=ppc, but are not needed since parsing of interrupts should be done via the of_* functions (who can do swizzling). If we ever need to do non-standard swizzling on bridges without a device-node, then we might add back a slightly different version of ppc_md.pci_swizzle but for now, that is not the case. I removed the couple of calls for these in 83xx. If that breaks something, then there is a problem with the device-tree on these. 2006-12-04[POWERPC] Make pci_read_irq_line the defaultBenjamin Herrenschmidt
This patch reworks the way IRQs are fixed up on PCI for arch powerpc. It makes pci_read_irq_line() called by default in the PCI code for devices that are probed, and add an optional per-device fixup in ppc_md for platforms that really need to correct what they obtain from pci_read_irq_line(). It also removes ppc_md.irq_bus_setup which was only used by pSeries and should not be needed anymore. I've also removed the pSeries s7a workaround as it can't work with the current interrupt code anyway. I'm trying to get one of these machines working so I can test a proper fix for that problem. I also haven't updated the old-style fixup code from 85xx_cds.c because it's actually buggy :) It assigns pci_dev->irq hard coded numbers which is no good with the new IRQ mapping code. It should at least use irq_create_mapping(NULL, hard_coded_number); and possibly also set_irq_type() to set them as level low.
