The syscall tracing patch introduces a compile bug in lttng-modules when the latter calls syscall_get_nr(), similar to the following: <path-to-linux>/arch/arm/include/asm/syscall.h:21:2: error: implicit declaration of function 'task_thread_info' [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration] The issue is that we are using task_thread_info() in the syscall_get_nr() function in asm/syscall.h, but not explicitly including sched.h from this file, so we can expect this bug might surface any time that syscall_get_nr() is called. 2012-10-04sparc64: Rearrange thread info to cheaply clear syscall noerror state.Al Viro
After fixing a couple of brainos, it even seems to work. What's done here is move of ->syscall_noerror right before FPDEPTH byte in ->flags and using sth to [%g6 + TI_SYS_NOERROR] instead of stb to [%g6 + TI_FPDEPTH] in both branches of etrap_save. AFAICS, that ought to be solid. Again, deciding what to do with now unused delay slot of branch on ->syscall_noerror and dealing with the order of tests in ret_from_sys is a separate question, but at least that way we don't have to clean ->syscall_noerror in there at all. AFAICS, it ought to be a clear win - sth is not going to cost more than stb on etrap_64.S side of things, and we are losing write on syscalls.S one. The old method of registering with the ASoC core by creating a "soc-audio" platform device no longer works for Amstrad Delta sound card after recent changes to drvdata handling (commit 0998d0631001288a5974afc0b2a5f568bcdecb4d, 'device-core: Ensure drvdata = NULL when no driver is bound'. Use snd_soc_register_card() method instead, as suggested by the ASoC core generated warning message, and move both the card and codec platform device registration to the arch board file where those belong. Created and tested against linux-3.6-rc5. 2012-10-04c6x: remove c6x signal.hMark Salter
The c6x signal.h includes the asm-generic version and provides a couple of extern declarations. David Howells pointed out that the externs needed to be protected by ifdef __KERNEL__. As it turns out, the externs aren't really needed since the functions are only called from asm code. So this patch gets rid of the c6x signal.h and uses just the asm-generic version. 2012-10-04xen pv-on-hvm: add pfn_is_ram helper for kdumpOlaf Hering
Register pfn_is_ram helper speed up reading /proc/vmcore in the kdump kernel. See commit message of 997c136f518c ("fs/proc/vmcore.c: add hook to read_from_oldmem() to check for non-ram pages") for details. It makes use of a new hvmop HVMOP_get_mem_type which was introduced in xen 4.2 (23298:26413986e6e0) and backported to 4.1.1. The new function is currently only enabled for reading /proc/vmcore. Later it will be used also for the kexec kernel. Since that requires more changes in the generic kernel make it static for the time being. 2012-10-04microblaze: Fix bug with passing command lineMichal Simek
When u-boot passes control over to Linux it places the Linux command line between to the end of __init_end. When space between __init_end and __bss_start is not COMMAND_LINE_SIZE then the part of cmdline can be lost. In extreme case if __init_end == __bss_start u-boot can't pass any cmdline to Linux kernel. This patch fix this issue by copying cmd line directly to cmd_line char array which is placed in data section. If the chosen node contains a "system-timer=<&foo>" entry than that handle will be used to determine the system timer. 2012-10-04perf/x86: Add support for Intel Xeon-Phi Knights Corner PMUVince Weaver
The following patch adds perf_event support for the Xeon-Phi PMU, as documented in the "Intel Xeon Phi Coprocessor (codename: Knights Corner) Performance Monitoring Units" manual. Even though it is a co-processor, a Phi runs a full Linux environment and can support performance counters. This is just barebones support, it does not add support for interesting new features such as the SPFLT intruction that allows starting/stopping events without entering the kernel. The PMU internally is just like that of an original Pentium, but a "P6-like" MSR interface is provided. 2012-10-04UAPI: Fix the guards on various asm/unistd.h filesDavid Howells
asm-generic/unistd.h and a number of asm/unistd.h files have been given reinclusion guards that allow the guard to be overridden if __SYSCALL is defined. Unfortunately, these files define __SYSCALL and don't undefine it when they've finished with it, thus rendering the guard ineffective. The reason for this override is to allow the file to be #included multiple times with different settings on __SYSCALL for purposes like generating syscall tables. 2012-10-04x86/reboot: Remove quirk entry for SBC FITPCDavid Hooper
Remove the quirk for the SBC FITPC. It seems ot have been required when the default was kbd reboot, but no longer required now that the default is acpi reboot. Furthermore, BIOS reboot no longer works for this board as of 2.6.39 or any of the 3.x kernels. The symbol "GPIO24_SSP1_SFRM" is defined in both mfp-pxa27x.h and mfp-pxa25x.h. Since the macro is not actually used in the cm-x2xx.c file, but it includes both headers, a safe workaround should be to just undefine it from the .c file. This is a bit hacky and the headers should be fixed to not both define it, but for now it gets us around an annoying warning. 2012-10-04powerpc/iommu: Fix multiple issues with IOMMU pools codeAnton Blanchard
There are a number of issues in the recent IOMMU pools code: - On a preempt kernel we might switch CPUs in the middle of building a scatter gather list. When this happens the handle hint passed in no longer falls within the local CPU's pool. Check for this and fall back to the pool hint. - We were missing a spin_unlock/spin_lock in one spot where we switch pools. - We need to provide locking around dart_tlb_invalidate_all and dart_tlb_invalidate_one now that the global lock is gone.
