2013-04-02i2c: Ignore return value of i2c_del_adapter()Lars-Peter Clausen
i2c_del_adapter() always returns 0. So all checks testing whether it will be non zero will always evaluate to false and the conditional code is dead code. This patch updates all callers of i2c_del_mux_adapter() to ignore the return value and assume that it will always succeed (which it will). In a subsequent patch the return type of i2c_del_adapter() will be made void. 2009-01-07i2c: Use snprintf to set adapter namesJean Delvare
Use snprintf instead of sprintf to set adapter names, it's safer. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org>
2008-08-10i2c: Fix oops on bus multiplexer driver loadingJean Delvare
The two I2C bus multiplexer drivers (i2c-amd756-s4882 and i2c-nforce2-s4985) make use of the bus they want to multiplex before checking if it is really present. Swap the instructions to test for presence first. This fixes a oops reported by Ingo Molnar. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org> Cc: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
2008-07-16i2c: Clear i2c_adapter.dev on adapter removalJean Delvare
Clear i2c_adapter.dev on adapter removal. This makes it possible to re-add the adapter at a later point, which some drivers (i2c-amd756-s4882, i2c-nforce2-s4985) actually do. This fixes a bug reported by John Stultz here: http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/7/15/720 and by Ingo Molar there: http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/7/16/78 Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org> Cc: John Stultz <johnstul@us.ibm.com> Cc: Ingo Molnar <mingo@elte.hu>
2008-07-14i2c: Bus drivers return -Errno not -1David Brownell
Tighten error paths used by various i2c adapters (mostly x86) so they return real fault/errno codes instead of a "-1" (which is most often interpreted as "-EPERM"). Build tested, with eyeball review. One minor initial goal is to have adapters consistently return the code "-ENXIO" when addressing a device doesn't get an ACK response, at least in the probe paths where they are already good at stifling related logspam. 2008-04-29i2c-amd756-s4882: Fix an error pathJean Delvare
If initialization fails, we want to restore the physical bus, not delete it again. Signed-off-by: Jean Delvare <khali@linux-fr.org>
2007-02-13i2c: Declare more i2c_adapter parent devicesJean Delvare
Declare the parent device of i2c_adapter devices each time we can easily do so. It makes the i2c_adapter appear at the right place in the device tree, rather than as a platform device. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
