2008-07-27V4L/DVB (8523): v4l2-dev: remove unused type and type2 field from video_deviceHans Verkuil
The type and type2 fields were unused and so could be removed. Instead add a vfl_type field that contains the type of the video device. Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil@xs4all.nl> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>
2008-07-26V4L/DVB (8483): Remove obsolete owner field from video_device struct.Hans Verkuil
According to an old comment this should have been removed in 2.6.15. Better late than never... Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil@xs4all.nl> Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>
2008-07-23V4L/DVB (8430): videodev: move some functions from v4l2-dev.h to ↵Hans Verkuil
v4l2-common.h or v4l2-ioctl.h The functions in a header should not belong to another module. The prio functions belong to v4l2-common.c, so move them to v4l2-common.h. The ioctl functions belong to v4l2-ioctl.c, so create a new v4l2-ioctl.h header and move those functions to it. 2008-01-25V4L/DVB (7013): bw-qcam: add module parameter 'force_init' to skip polite ↵Brett T. Warden
auto-detection prior to direct initialization Setting force_init=1 bypasses the friendly auto-detection by polling the status register, and instead attempts to initialize the qcam directly. Not friendly to other parallel devices, but much more reliable than the auto-detection. Signed-off-by: Brett T. 2007-10-22V4L/DVB (6320): v4l core: remove the unused .hardware V4L1 fieldMauro Carvalho Chehab
struct video_device used to define a .hardware field. While initialized on severl drivers, this field is never used inside V4L. However, drivers using it need to include the old V4L1 header. This seems to cause compilation troubles with some random configs. Better just to remove it from all drivers. Signed-off-by: Mauro Carvalho Chehab <mchehab@infradead.org>

2007-10-09V4L/DVB (6238): bw-qcam: use data_reverse instead of manually poking the ↵Brett Warden
control register Fixes use of parport_write_control() to match the newer interface that requires explicit parport_data_reverse() and parport_data_forward() calls. This eliminates the following error message and restores the original intended behavior: parport0 (bw-qcam): use data_reverse for this! Also increases threshold in qc_detect() from 300 to 400, as my camera often results in a count of approx 330. Added a kernel error message to indicate detection failure. Thanks Ray and Randy for your comments, and for pointing out that I needed to reset the port to forward mode! Signed-off-by: Brett T. 2007-02-12[PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 4Arjan van de Ven
Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources. 2006-06-25V4L/DVB (4068): Removed all references to kernel stuff from videodev.h and ↵Mauro Carvalho Chehab
videodev2.h The videodev.h and videodev2.h describe the public API for V4L and V4L2. It shouldn't have there any kernel-specific stuff. Those were moved to v4l2-dev.h. This patch removes some uneeded headers and include v4l2-common.h on all V4L driver. This header includes device implementation of V4L2 API provided on v4l2-dev.h as well as V4L2 internal ioctls that provides connections between master driver and its i2c devices. 2006-01-09V4L (926_2): Moves compat32 functions from fs to v4l subsystemArnd Bergmann
This moves the 32 bit ioctl compatibility handlers for Video4Linux into a new file and adds explicit calls to them to each v4l device driver. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any code handling the v4l2 ioctls, so quite often the code goes through two separate conversions, first from 32 bit v4l to 64 bit v4l, and from there to 64 bit v4l2. My patch does not change that, so there is still much room for improvement. Also, some drivers have additional ioctl numbers, for which the conversion should be handled internally to that driver. 2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
