2011-04-17bnx2x: cosmetics: Using ethtool_cmd_speed() APIDavid Decotigny
This updates bnx2x to use the ethtool_cmd_speed() family of functions (see b11f8d8c in 2.6.27-rc3 aka. "ethtool: Expand ethtool_cmd.speed to 32 bits") to get and set the link speed via ethtool. This allows to avoid manually accessing ethtool_cmd's speed_hi field. Signed-off-by: David Decotigny <decot@google.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2011-04-17bnx2x: Fix port identification problemYaniv Rosner

2011-04-17bnx2x: Fix set-but-unused variables.David S. Miller
The variable 'rc' is set but unused in bnx2x_timer(). Similarly for 'hc_index_p' in bnx2x_init_sb(), and 'port' in bnx2x_get_hwinfo(). Just kill them off. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2011-04-14ethtool: allow custom interval for physical identificationAllan, Bruce W
When physical identification of an adapter is done by toggling the mechanism on and off through software utilizing the set_phys_id operation, it is done with a fixed duration for both on and off states. Some drivers may want to set a custom duration for the on/off intervals. This patch changes the API so the return code from the driver's entry point when it is called with ETHTOOL_ID_ACTIVE can specify the frequency at which to cycle the on/off states, and updates the drivers that have already been converted to use the new set_phys_id and use the synchronous method for identifying an adapter. The physical identification frequency set in the updated drivers is based on how it was done prior to the introduction of set_phys_id. Compile tested only. Also fixes a compiler warning in sfc. v2: drivers do not return -EINVAL for ETHOOL_ID_ACTIVE v3: fold patchset into single patch and cleanup per Ben's feedback Signed-off-by: Bruce Allan <bruce.w.allan@intel.com> Cc: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com> Cc: Sathya Perla <sathya.perla@emulex.com> Cc: Subbu Seetharaman <subbu.seetharaman@emulex.com> Cc: Ajit Khaparde <ajit.khaparde@emulex.com> Cc: Michael Chan <mchan@broadcom.com> Cc: Eilon Greenstein <eilong@broadcom.com> Cc: Divy Le Ray <divy@chelsio.com> Cc: Don Fry <pcnet32@frontier.com> Cc: Jon Mason <jdmason@kudzu.us> Cc: Solarflare linux maintainers <linux-net-drivers@solarflare.com> Cc: Steve Hodgson <shodgson@solarflare.com> Cc: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@linux-foundation.org> Cc: Matt Carlson <mcarlson@broadcom.com> Acked-by: Jon Mason <jdmason@kudzu.us> Acked-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2011-04-12net: bnx2x: convert to hw_featuresMichał Mirosław
Since ndo_fix_features callback is postponing features change when bp->recovery_state != BNX2X_RECOVERY_DONE, netdev_update_features() has to be called again when this condition changes. Previously, ethtool_ops->set_flags callback returned -EBUSY in that case (it's not possible in the new model). Signed-off-by: Michał Mirosław <mirq-linux@rere.qmqm.pl> v5: - don't delay set_features, as it's rtnl_locked - same as recovery process v4: - complete bp->rx_csum -> NETIF_F_RXCSUM conversion - add check for failed ndo_set_features in ndo_open callback v3: - include NETIF_F_LRO in hw_features - don't call netdev_update_features() if bnx2x_nic_load() failed v2: - comment in ndo_fix_features callback Signed-off-by: David S. 2011-02-28bnx2x: use dcb_setapp to manage negotiated application tlvsShmulik Ravid
With this patch the bnx2x uses the generic dcbnl application tlv list instead of implementing its own get-app handler. When the driver is alerted to a change in the DCB negotiated parameters, it calls dcb_setapp to update the dcbnl application tlvs list making it available to user mode applications and registered notifiers. Completed the bnx2x_set_rx_mode() to a proper netdev->ndo_set_rx_mode implementation: - Added a missing configuration of a unicast MAC addresses list. - Changed bp->dma_lock from being a mutex to a spinlock as long as it's taken under netdev->addr_list_lock now. 2011-02-06bnx2x: Duplication in promisc modeVladislav Zolotarov
Prevent packets duplication for frames targeting FCoE L2 ring: packets were arriving to stack from both L2 RSS and from FCoE L2 in a promiscuous mode. Configure FCoE L2 ring to DROP_ALL rx mode, when interface is configured to PROMISC, and to accept only unicast frames, when interface is configured to ALL_MULTI. 2011-02-01bnx2x: multicasts in NPAR modeVladislav Zolotarov
The chip was erroneously configured to accept all multicast frames in a normal (none-promisc) rx mode both on the RSS and on the FCoE L2 rings when in an NPAR mode. Move all shared mem code to bnx2x to avoid code duplication. bnx2x now performs: - Read the FCoE and iSCSI max connection information. - Read the iSCSI and FCoE MACs from NPAR configuration in shmem. - Block the CNIC for the current function if there is neither FCoE nor iSCSI valid configuration by returning NULL from bnx2x_cnic_probe().
