The brcms_attach function is defined as static but the comment is saying that it should not be static or gcc will issue a warning. 2014-03-14brcmsmac: fix deadlock on missing firmwareEmil Goode
When brcm80211 firmware is not installed networking hangs. A deadlock happens because we call ieee80211_unregister_hw() from the .start callback of struct ieee80211_ops. When .start is called we are under rtnl lock and ieee80211_unregister_hw() tries to take it again. 2013-11-25cfg80211: consolidate passive-scan and no-ibss flagsLuis R. Rodriguez
These two flags are used for the same purpose, just combine them into a no-ir flag to annotate no initiating radiation is allowed. Old userspace sending either flag will have it treated as the no-ir flag. To be considerate to older userspace we also send both the no-ir flag and the old no-ibss flags. Newer userspace will have to be aware of older kernels. There are some BCM4313 out there with a PCI id of 0x4313. These devices are missing a sprom and are only used on routers or other embedded devices. We found one connected to a BCM63XX SoC. 2013-09-24brcm80211: Remove extern from function prototypesJoe Perches
There are a mix of function prototypes with and without extern in the kernel sources. Standardize on not using extern for function prototypes. Function prototypes don't need to be written with extern. extern is assumed by the compiler. Its use is as unnecessary as using auto to declare automatic/local variables in a block. 2013-08-22brcmsmac: change pa_gain for bcm4313 iPAArend van Spriel
The function wlc_lcnphy_load_tx_gain_table() has a target PA gain specified for the iPA variant of the bcm4313. This gain value is reduced to avoid PA distortion. The if-statement is removed because it was rather redundant in the first place. Please note that this patch does not provide full iPA support. The xen-netback conflict was overlapping changes involving the handling of the notify list in xen_netbk_rx_action(). Batman conflict resolution provided by Antonio Quartulli, basically keep everything in both conflict hunks. The nl80211 conflict is a little more involved. In 'net' we added a dynamic memory allocation to nl80211_dump_wiphy() to fix a race that Linus reported. Meanwhile in 'net-next' the handlers were converted to use pre and post doit handlers which use a flag to determine whether to hold the RTNL mutex around the operation. However, the dump handlers to not use this logic. Instead they have to explicitly do the locking. There were apparent bugs in the conversion of nl80211_dump_wiphy() in that we were not dropping the RTNL mutex in all the return paths, and it seems we very much should be doing so. Before the mentioned commit the return value of the function brcms_c_ps_allowed() was always false, which is desired behaviour as power-save is not supported at the moment. Therefor, the function is changed to just return false instead of simply reverting the mentioned commit. It is possible to configure the ucode to automatically send the probe responses to the clients after they send a probe request. At least for WPS the userspace needs to answer the probe requests and we do not know a way to say to the ucode to just handle the normal probe requests, so for now no probe requests should be handled by the ucode.
