2011-03-10block: remove per-queue pluggingJens Axboe
Code has been converted over to the new explicit on-stack plugging, and delay users have been converted to use the new API for that. So lets kill off the old plugging along with aops->sync_page(). Signed-off-by: Jens Axboe <jaxboe@fusionio.com>
2011-03-09s390/tape_block: Convert to bdops->check_events()Tejun Heo
Convert from ->media_changed() to ->check_events(). s390/tape_block buffers media changed state and clears it on revalidation. It will behave correctly with kernel event polling. 2011-03-03[S390] tape: deadlock on system work queueMartin Schwidefsky
The 34xx and 3590 tape driver uses the system work queue to defer work from the interrupt function to process context, e.g. a medium sense after an unsolicited interrupt. The tape commands started by the work handler need to be asynchronous, otherwise a deadlock on the system work queue can occur. Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
2011-03-03[S390] keyboard: integer underflow bugDan Carpenter
The "ct" variable should be an unsigned int. Both struct kbdiacrs ->kb_cnt and struct kbd_data ->accent_table_size are unsigned ints. Making it signed causes a problem in KBDIACRUC because the user could set the signed bit and cause a buffer overflow. Cc: <stable@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Dan Carpenter <error27@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
2011-03-03[S390] xpram: remove __initdata attribute from module parametersMartin Schwidefsky
The module parameter 'devs' and 'sizes' are marked as __initdata. The memory for the parameters are freed after module_init completed. This can lead to kernel crashes in param_free_charp. Remove the __initdata attribute to fix the problem. Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
2011-02-26qeth: remove needless IPA-commands in offlineUrsula Braun
If a qeth device is set offline, data and control subchannels are cleared, which means removal of all IP Assist Primitive settings implicitly. There is no need to delete those settings explicitly. This patch removes all IP Assist invocations from offline. Signed-off-by: Ursula Braun <ursula.braun@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Frank Blaschka <frank.blaschka@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2011-02-25[SCSI] zfcp: Add information to symbolic port name when running in NPIV modeChristof Schmitt
Query the FC symbolic port name for reporting in the fc_host sysfs and enable the symbolic_name attribute in the fc_host sysfs. When running in NPIV mode, extend the symbolic port name with the devno and the hostname. This allows better identification of Linux systems for SAN and storage administrators. 2011-02-25[SCSI] zfcp: Move SCSI host and transport templates out of struct zfcp_dataChristof Schmitt
The SCSI host and transport templates are the only members left in the global zfcp_data struct. Move them out of zfcp_data and remove the now unused zfcp_data struct. Also update the names of the register and unregister functions to use the zfcp_scsi prefix. 2011-02-25[SCSI] zfcp: Merge FCP task management setup with regular FCP command setupChristof Schmitt
For task management commands, only LUN and flags are required. The regular FCP setup already sets the LUN in the fcp_cmnd. All is required for merging the function is setting up the TM flags. 2011-02-25[SCSI] zfcp: Use common FC kmem_cache for GPN_FT requestChristof Schmitt

2011-02-25[SCSI] zfcp: Allocate GID_PN data through new FC kmem_cacheChristof Schmitt
Allocate the data for the GID_PN request through the new FC kmem_cache. While updating the GID_PN code, also introduce a helper function for initializing the CT header for FC nameserver requests. Remove the "paranoia" check as well, the GID_PN request data does not suddenly change. 2011-02-25[SCSI] zfcp: Introduce new kmem_cache for FC request and response dataChristof Schmitt
A data buffer that is passed to the hardware must not cross a page boundary. zfcp uses a series of kmem_caches to align the data to not cross a page boundary. Introduce a new kmem_cache for the FC requests sent from the zfcp driver and use it for the ELS ADISC data. The goal is to migrate to the FC kmem_cache in later patches and remove the request specific kmem_caches. 2011-02-25[SCSI] zfcp: Replace kmem_cache for "status read" dataChristof Schmitt
zfcp requires a mempool for the status read data blocks to resubmit the "status read" requests at any time. Each status read data block has the size of a page (4096 bytes) and needs to be placed in one page. Instead of having a kmem_cache for allocating page sized chunks, use mempool_create_page_pool to create a mempool returning pages and remove the zfcp kmem_cache. 2011-02-02s390: Fix possibly wrong size in strncmp (smsgiucv)Stefan Weil
This error was reported by cppcheck: drivers/s390/net/smsgiucv.c:63: error: Using sizeof for array given as function argument returns the size of pointer. Although there is no runtime problem as long as sizeof(u8 *) == 8, this misleading code should get fixed. 2011-02-02s390: Fix wrong size in memcmp (netiucv)Stefan Weil
This error was reported by cppcheck: drivers/s390/net/netiucv.c:568: error: Using sizeof for array given as function argument returns the size of pointer. sizeof(ipuser) did not result in 16 (as many programmers would have expected) but sizeof(u8 *), so it is 4 or 8, too small here. 2011-02-02qeth: allow OSA CHPARM change in suspend stateUrsula Braun
For OSA the CHPARM-definition determines the number of available outbound queues. A CHPARM-change may occur while a Linux system with probed OSA device is in suspend state. This patch enables proper resuming of an OSA device in this case. 2011-02-02qeth: allow HiperSockets framesize change in suspendUrsula Braun
For HiperSockets the framesize-definition determines the selected mtu-size and the size of the allocated qdio buffers. A framesize-change may occur while a Linux system with probed HiperSockets device is in suspend state. This patch enables proper resuming of a HiperSockets device in this case. 2011-02-02qeth: show new mac-address if its setting failsUrsula Braun
Setting of a MAC-address may fail because an already used MAC-address is to bet set or because of authorization problems. In those cases qeth issues a message, but the mentioned MAC-address is not the new MAC-address to be set, but the actual MAC-address. This patch chooses now the new MAC-address to be set for the error messages. 2011-01-15qeth: postpone open till recovery is finishedUrsula Braun
The open function of qeth is not executed if the qeth device is in state DOWN or HARDSETUP. A recovery switches from state SOFTSETUP to HARDSETUP to DOWN to HARDSETUP and back to SOFTSETUP. If open and recover are running concurrently, open fails if it hits the states HARDSETUP or DOWN. This patch inserts waiting for recovery finish in the qeth open functions to enable successful qeth device opening in spite of a running recovery. 2011-01-05[S390] cio: fix ccwgroup unregistration race conditionPeter Oberparleiter
A race condition exists in the ccwgroup device unregistration code which can cause a kernel panic due to a use-after-free bug. This race condition might be triggered when all ccw devices associated with a ccwgroup device are removed at the same time (e.g. because the corresponding channel path becomes no longer available). Fix this race condition by clearing the references from the associated ccw devices to the ccw group device during unregistration of the ccw group device. 2011-01-05[S390] dasd: Correct retry counter for terminated I/O.Stefan Haberland
In case the DASD driver needs to term a running I/O the retry counter is decreased twice. Remove the unnecessary retry counter decrease in das_term_IO. Signed-off-by: Stefan Haberland <stefan.haberland@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
2011-01-05[S390] dasd: Add support for raw ECKD access.Stefan Haberland
Normal I/O operations through the DASD device driver give only access to the data fields of an ECKD device even for track based I/O. This patch extends the DASD device driver to give access to whole ECKD tracks including count, key and data fields. 2011-01-05[S390] dasd: Prevent deadlock during suspend/resume.Stefan Haberland
The freeze callback may set a stop bit so that a worker thread could not start I/O. The discipline specific freeze function waits for the worker to be completed. Set the stop_bit after the discipline specific freeze function has returned and no worker is running. 2011-01-05[S390] dasd: Improve handling of stolen DASD reservationStefan Weinhuber
If a DASD device has been reserved by a Linux system, and later this reservation is ‘stolen’ by a second system by means of an unconditional reserve, then the first system receives a notification about this fact. With this patch such an event can be either ignored, as before, or it can be used to let the device fail all I/O request, so that the device will not block anymore. 2011-01-05[S390] dasd: do path verification for paths added at runtimeStefan Weinhuber
When a new path is added at runtime, the CIO layer will call the drivers path_event callback. The DASD device driver uses this callback to trigger a path verification for the new path. The driver will use only those paths for I/O, which have been successfully verified. Signed-off-by: Stefan Weinhuber <wein@de.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
2011-01-05[S390] dasd: add High Performance FICON multitrack supportStefan Weinhuber
Some storage systems support multitrack High Performance FICON requests, which read or write data to more than one track. This patch enables the DASD device driver to generate multitrack High Performance FICON requests.
