2009-01-05add a vfs_fsync helperChristoph Hellwig
Fsync currently has a fdatawrite/fdatawait pair around the method call, and a mutex_lock/unlock of the inode mutex. All callers of fsync have to duplicate this, but we have a few and most of them don't quite get it right. This patch adds a new vfs_fsync that takes care of this. It's a little more complicated as usual as ->fsync might get a NULL file pointer and just a dentry from nfsd, but otherwise gets afile and we want to take the mapping and file operations from it when it is there. Notes on the fsync callers: - ecryptfs wasn't calling filemap_fdatawrite / filemap_fdatawait on the lower file - coda wasn't calling filemap_fdatawrite / filemap_fdatawait on the host file, and returning 0 when ->fsync was missing - shm wasn't calling either filemap_fdatawrite / filemap_fdatawait nor taking i_mutex. Now given that shared memory doesn't have disk backing not doing anything in fsync seems fine and I left it out of the vfs_fsync conversion for now, but in that case we might just not pass it through to the lower file at all but just call the no-op simple_sync_file directly. 2009-01-02tty: USB tty devices can block in tcdrain when unpluggedAlan Cox
The underlying problem is that the device methods don't all correctly handle disconnected status and some keep reporting bytes pending which causes tcdrain to stall. When the cable is unplugged they are definitely gone, and as this is true for all USB cables we can fix it in the core usb serial code. USB serial has always had races where the tty port usage count can hit zero during a receive event. The internal locking is a mutex so we can't use that in the IRQ handlers. When a driver unbinds from an interface, usbcore always sends a Set-Interface request to reinstall altsetting 0. Unforunately, quite a few devices have buggy firmware that crashes when it receives this request. To avoid such problems, this patch (as1180) arranges to send the Set-Interface request only when the interface is not already in altsetting 0. Greatly enhance the MAS allocator: - Handle row and column reservations. - Permit all the available MAS to be allocated. - Follows the WiMedia rules on MAS selection. Take appropriate action when reservation conflicts are detected. - Correctly identify which reservation wins the conflict. - Protect alien BP reservations. - If an owned reservation loses, resize/move it. - Follow the backoff procedure before requesting additional MAS. When reservations are terminated, move the remaining reservations (if necessary) so they keep following the MAS allocation rules. Gadgets disable endpoints in their disconnect callbacks, so we must call disconnect before unbinding. This also fixes muram memory leak, since we free muram in the qe_ep_disable(). 2008-11-30USB: fix SB600 USB subsystem hang bugShane Huang
This patch is required for all AMD SB600 revisions to avoid USB subsystem hang symptom. The USB subsystem hang symptom is observed when the system has multiple USB devices connected to it. In some cases a USB hub may be required to observe this symptom.
