2007-10-16tgafb: remove a redundant non-mono test in mono imageblitMaciej W. Rozycki
There is a test in tgafb_mono_imageblit() for a colour image with a fall-back to cfb_imageblit(). The test is not necessary as the only caller, which is tgafb_imageblit(), checks it too and only invokes this function for monochrome images. It looks like a left-over from before some changes to tgafb_imageblit(). Signed-off-by: Maciej W. 2007-10-16tgafb: fix an out-of-range shift in mono imageblitMaciej W. Rozycki
The pixel mask calculation in tgafb_mono_imageblit() uses a variable left-shift on a 32-bit data type by up to 32. Shifting by the width of a data type or more produces an unpredictable result according to the C standard. Rather than widening the data type this fix makes sure the count is between 0 and 31. The reason is not to penalise 32-bit platforms with operation on a "long long" type for a marginal case that is meant not to happen (blitting an image of a zero width). The reason it has escaped for so long is the Alpha, being purely 64-bit, :-) does not mask the shift out to 32 bits. This is a valid implementation -- producing the correct result certainly falls within "unpredictable behaviour". It does trigger on MIPS though and it is the recent merge of the TC support which only enabled the driver for use on anything other than the Alpha. For MIPS when the width is 32 the mask ends up being 0 rather than 0xffffffff as it should be and the frame buffer is not updated. Signed-off-by: Maciej W. 2007-07-11PCI: Change all drivers to use pci_device->revisionAuke Kok
Instead of all drivers reading pci config space to get the revision ID, they can now use the pci_device->revision member. This exposes some issues where drivers where reading a word or a dword for the revision number, and adding useless error-handling around the read. Some drivers even just read it for no purpose of all. In devices where the revision ID is being copied over and used in what appears to be the equivalent of hotpath, I have left the copy code and the cached copy as not to influence the driver's performance. Compile tested with make all{yes, mod}config on x86_64 and i386. 2007-05-08tgafb: TURBOchannel supportMaciej W. Rozycki
This is support for the TC variations of the TGA boards (properly known as SFB+ or Smart Frame Buffer Plus boards). The 8-plane SFB+ board uses the Bt459 RAMDAC (unlike its PCI TGA counterpart, which uses the Bt485), so bits have been added to support this chip as well. Signed-off-by: Maciej W. 2007-02-14[PATCH] remove many unneeded #includes of sched.hTim Schmielau
After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes. There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the course of cleaning it up. To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble. Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha, arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig, allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted by unnecessarily included header files). 2007-02-12[PATCH] tgafb: Fix the PCI ID tableMaciej W. Rozycki
The end marker is missing from the driver's PCI ID table. This set of changes adds the marker, switches to using PCI_DEVICE() and records the table for the use in a module. Signed-off-by: Maciej W. 2007-02-12[PATCH] tgafb: fix the mode register settingMaciej W. Rozycki

2007-02-12[PATCH] tgafb: support the DirectColor visualMaciej W. Rozycki
The 32-plane variations of the TGA use the Bt463 RAMDAC and are therefore DirectColor rather than TrueColor adapters. This is a set of changes to implement the necessary bits to support this model. A couple of fixes to fix accesses to the RAMDAC are included as a side-effect. Signed-off-by: Maciej W. Rozycki <macro@linux-mips.org> Cc: James Simmons <jsimmons@infradead.org> Cc: "Antonino A. 2007-02-12[PATCH] tgafb: switch to framebuffer_alloc()Maciej W. Rozycki

2006-07-10[PATCH] vt: Remove VT-specific declarations and definitions from tty.hJon Smirl
MAX_NR_CONSOLES, fg_console, want_console and last_console are more of a function of the VT layer than the TTY one. 2006-06-26[PATCH] fbdev: Remove duplicate #include'sAdrian Bunk

2005-11-07[PATCH] fbcon/fbdev: Move softcursor out of fbdev to fbconAntonino A. Daplas
According to Jon Smirl, filling in the field fb_cursor with soft_cursor for drivers that do not support hardware cursors is redundant. The soft_cursor function is usable by all drivers because it is just a wrapper around fb_imageblit. And because soft_cursor is an fbcon-specific hook, the file is moved to the console directory. Thus, drivers that do not support hardware cursors can leave the fb_cursor field blank. For drivers that do, they can fill up this field with their own version. The end result is a smaller code size. And if the framebuffer console is not loaded, module/kernel size is also reduced because the soft_cursor module will also not be loaded. 2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
