2010-06-24Input: adp5588-keys - support GPI events for ADP5588 devicesXiaolong CHEN
A column or row configured as a GPI can be programmed to be part of the key event table and therefore also capable of generating a key event interrupt. A key event interrupt caused by a GPI follows the same process flow as a key event interrupt caused by a key press. GPIs configured as part of the key event table allow single key switches and other GPI interrupts to be monitored. As part of the event table, GPIs are represented by the decimal value 97 (0x61 or 1100001) through the decimal value 114 (0x72 or 1110010). See table below for GPI event number assignments for rows and columns. 2010-06-23Input: evdev - never leave the client buffer empty after writeHenrik Rydberg
When the client buffer is very small and wraps around a lot, it may well be that a write increases the head such that head == tail. If this happens between the point where a poll is triggered and the actual data is being read, there will be no data to read. This is confusing to applications, which might end up closing the file. This patch solves the problem by making sure the client buffer is never empty after writing to it. Signed-off-by: Henrik Rydberg <rydberg@euromail.se> Signed-off-by: Dmitry Torokhov <dtor@mail.ru>
2010-06-23Input: hid-input - use a larger event buffer for MT devicesHenrik Rydberg
The MT devices produce a lot of data. Tell the underlying input device approximately how many events will be sent per synchronization, to allow for better buffering. The number is a template based on continuously reporting details for each finger on a single hand. Signed-off-by: Henrik Rydberg <rydberg@euromail.se> Acked-by: Jiri Kosina <jkosina@suse.cz> Signed-off-by: Dmitry Torokhov <dtor@mail.ru>
2010-06-23Input: bcm5974 - set the average number of events per MT event packetHenrik Rydberg
The MT devices produce a lot of data. Tell the underlying input device approximately how many events will be sent per synchronization, to allow for better buffering. 2010-06-23Input: evdev - use driver hint to compute size of event bufferHenrik Rydberg
Some devices, in particular MT devices, produce a lot of data. This may lead to overflowing of the event queues in evdev driver, which by default are fairly small. Let the drivers hint the average number of events per packet generated by the device, and use that information when computing the buffer size evdev should use for the device. Signed-off-by: Henrik Rydberg <rydberg@euromail.se> Acked-by: Chase Douglas <chase.douglas@canonical.com> Signed-off-by: Dmitry Torokhov <dtor@mail.ru>
2010-06-23Input: evdev - convert to dynamic event bufferHenrik Rydberg
Allocate the event buffer dynamically, and prepare to compute the buffer size in a separate function. This patch defines the size computation to be identical to the current code, and does not contain any logical changes. 2010-06-10Input: matrix_keypad - add support for clustered irqLuotao Fu
This one adds support of a combined irq source for the whole matrix keypad. This can be useful if all rows and columns of the keypad are e.g. connected to a GPIO expander, which only has one interrupt line for all events on every single GPIO. 2010-05-28ACPI: Don't let acpi_pad needlessly mark TSC unstableVenkatesh Pallipadi
acpi pad driver kind of aggressively marks TSC as unstable at init time, on mwait capable and non X86_FEATURE_NONSTOP_TSC systems. This is irrespective of whether pad driver is ever going to be used on the system or deep C-states are supported/used. This will affect every user who just happens to compile in (or get a kernel version which compiles in) acpi pad driver. Move mark_tsc_unstable() out of init to the actual idle invocation path of the pad driver. There is also another bug/missing_feature in the code that it does not support 'always running apic timer' and switches to broadcast mode unconditionally. Shaohua, can you take a look at that please. 2010-05-28ACPI: Minor cleanup eliminating redundant PMTIMER_TICKS to NS conversionVenkatesh Pallipadi
acpi_enter_[simple,bm] does idle timing in ns, convert it to timeval, then to us, then to pmtimer_ticks and then back to ns. This patch changes things to idle timing in ns, convert it to us, and then to pmtimer_ticks. Just saves an imul along this path, but makes the code cleaner. 2010-05-28intel_idle: native hardware cpuidle driver for latest Intel processorsLen Brown
This EXPERIMENTAL driver supersedes acpi_idle on Intel Atom Processors, Intel Core i3/i5/i7 Processors and associated Intel Xeon processors. It does not support the Intel Core2 processor or earlier. For kernels configured with ACPI, CONFIG_INTEL_IDLE=y allows intel_idle to probe before the ACPI processor driver. Booting with "intel_idle.max_cstate=0" disables intel_idle and the system will fall back on ACPI's "acpi_idle". Typical Linux distributions load ACPI processor module early, making CONFIG_INTEL_IDLE=m not easily useful on ACPI platforms. intel_idle probes all processors at module_init time. Processors that are hot-added later will be limited to using C1 in idle. Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
2010-05-28ACPI: acpi_idle: touch TS_POLLING only in the non-MWAIT caseLen Brown
commit d306ebc28649b89877a22158fe0076f06cc46f60 (ACPI: Be in TS_POLLING state during mwait based C-state entry) fixed an important power & performance issue where ACPI c2 and c3 C-states were clearing TS_POLLING even when using MWAIT (ACPI_STATE_FFH). That bug had been causing us to receive redundant scheduling interrups when we had already been woken up by MONITOR/MWAIT. Following up on that... In the MWAIT case, we don't have to subsequently check need_resched(), as that c heck was there for the TS_POLLING-clearing case. Note that not only does the cpuidle calling function already check need_resched() before calling us, the low-level entry into monitor/mwait calls it twice -- guaranteeing that a write to the trigger address can not go un-noticed. Also, in this case, we don't have to set TS_POLLING when we wake, because we never cleared it. Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com> Acked-by: Venkatesh Pallipadi <venki@google.com>
