2012-01-03affs: propagate umode_tAl Viro
Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-01-03switch ->create() to umode_tAl Viro
vfs_create() ignores everything outside of 16bit subset of its mode argument; switching it to umode_t is obviously equivalent and it's the only caller of the method Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-01-03switch vfs_mkdir() and ->mkdir() to umode_tAl Viro
vfs_mkdir() gets int, but immediately drops everything that might not fit into umode_t and that's the only caller of ->mkdir()... Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2011-07-20fs: push i_mutex and filemap_write_and_wait down into ->fsync() handlersJosef Bacik
Btrfs needs to be able to control how filemap_write_and_wait_range() is called in fsync to make it less of a painful operation, so push down taking i_mutex and the calling of filemap_write_and_wait() down into the ->fsync() handlers. Some file systems can drop taking the i_mutex altogether it seems, like ext3 and ocfs2. For correctness sake I just pushed everything down in all cases to make sure that we keep the current behavior the same for everybody, and then each individual fs maintainer can make up their mind about what to do from there. 2010-05-27drop unused dentry argument to ->fsyncChristoph Hellwig

2010-03-05pass writeback_control to ->write_inodeChristoph Hellwig
This gives the filesystem more information about the writeback that is happening. Trond requested this for the NFS unstable write handling, and other filesystems might benefit from this too by beeing able to distinguish between the different callers in more detail. 2010-01-26Fix remount races with symlink handling in affsAl Viro
A couple of fields in affs_sb_info is used in follow_link() and symlink() for handling AFFS "absolute" symlinks. Need locking against affs_remount() updates. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2009-06-11sanitize ->fsync() for affsAl Viro
unfortunately, for affs (especially for affs directories) we have no real way to keep track of metadata ownership. So we have to do more or less what file_fsync() does, but we do *not* need to call write_super() there. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

2008-07-26affs: convert s_bmlock into a mutexMatthias Kaehlcke
The semaphore s_bmlock is used as a mutex. Convert it to the mutex API. Signed-off-by: Matthias Kaehlcke <matthias@kaehlcke.net> Cc: Roman Zippel <zippel@linux-m68k.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
2008-05-06[PATCH] fix reservation discarding in affsRoman Zippel
- remove affs_put_inode, so preallocations aren't discared unnecessarily often. - remove affs_drop_inode, it's called with a spinlock held, so it can't use a mutex. - make i_opencnt atomic - avoid direct b_count manipulations - a few allocation failure fixes, so that these are more gracefully handled now. 2008-02-07iget: stop AFFS from using iget() and read_inode()David Howells
Stop the AFFS filesystem from using iget() and read_inode(). Replace affs_read_inode() with affs_iget(), and call that instead of iget(). affs_iget() then uses iget_locked() directly and returns a proper error code instead of an inode in the event of an error. affs_fill_super() returns any error incurred when getting the root inode instead of EINVAL. 2007-02-20[PATCH] affs: implement ->drop_inodeChristoph Hellwig
affs wants to truncate the inode when the last user goes away, currently it does that through a potentially racy i_count check in ->put_inode. But we already have a method that's called just after the we dropped the last reference, ->drop_inode. This patch implements affs_drop_inode to take advantage of this. 2007-02-12[PATCH] mark struct inode_operations const 1Arjan van de Ven
Many struct inode_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources. 2006-06-28[PATCH] mark address_space_operations constChristoph Hellwig
Same as with already do with the file operations: keep them in .rodata and prevents people from doing runtime patching. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de> Cc: Steven French <sfrench@us.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2006-03-28[PATCH] Make most file operations structs in fs/ constArjan van de Ven
This is a conversion to make the various file_operations structs in fs/ const. Basically a regexp job, with a few manual fixups The goal is both to increase correctness (harder to accidentally write to shared datastructures) and reducing the false sharing of cachelines with things that get dirty in .data (while .rodata is nicely read only and thus cache clean) Signed-off-by: Arjan van de Ven <arjan@infradead.org> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@osdl.org>
2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
