We reject any filesystem that is mounted with this feature bit set,
so we don't need to check for it anywhere else. Remove the function

If the the V2 directory feature bit is not set in the superblock
feature mask the filesystem will fail the good version check.
Hence we don't need any other version checking on the dir2 feature
bit in the code as the filesystem will not mount without it set.
Remove the checking code.

mkfs has turned on the XFS_SB_VERSION_NLINKBIT feature bit by
default since November 2007. It's about time we simply made the
kernel code turn it on by default and so always convert v1 inodes to
v2 inodes when reading them in from disk or allocating them. This
This removes needless version checks and modification when bumping
link counts on inodes, and will take code out of a few common code
paths.

This loop in xfs_growfs_data_private() is incorrect for V4
superblocks filesystems:
for (bucket = 0; bucket < XFS_AGFL_SIZE(mp); bucket++)
agfl->agfl_bno[bucket] = cpu_to_be32(NULLAGBLOCK);
For V4 filesystems, we don't have a agfl header structure, and so
XFS_AGFL_SIZE() returns an entire sector's worth of entries, which
we then index from an offset into the sector. Hence: buffer overrun.
This problem was introduced in 3.10 by commit 77c95bba ("xfs: add
CRC checks to the AGFL") which changed the AGFL structure but failed
to update the growfs code to handle the different structures.
Fix it by using the correct offset into the buffer for both V4 and
V5 filesystems.

Currently the xfs_inode.h header has a dependency on the definition
of the BMAP btree records as the inode fork includes an array of
xfs_bmbt_rec_host_t objects in it's definition.
Move all the btree format definitions from xfs_btree.h,
xfs_bmap_btree.h, xfs_alloc_btree.h and xfs_ialloc_btree.h to
xfs_format.h to continue the process of centralising the on-disk
format definitions. With this done, the xfs inode definitions are no
longer dependent on btree header files.
The enables a massive culling of unnecessary includes, with close to
200 #include directives removed from the XFS kernel code base.

xfs_trans.h has a dependency on xfs_log.h for a couple of
structures. Most code that does transactions doesn't need to know
anything about the log, but this dependency means that they have to
include xfs_log.h. Decouple the xfs_trans.h and xfs_log.h header
files and clean up the includes to be in dependency order.
In doing this, remove the direct include of xfs_trans_reserve.h from
xfs_trans.h so that we remove the dependency between xfs_trans.h and
xfs_mount.h. Hence the xfs_trans.h include can be moved to the
indicate the actual dependencies other header files have on it.
Note that these are kernel only header files, so this does not
translate to any userspace changes at all.

All of the buffer operations structures are needed to be exported
for xfs_db, so move them all to a common location rather than
spreading them all over the place. They are verifying the on-disk
format, so while xfs_format.h might be a good place, it is not part
of the on disk format.
Hence we need to create a new header file that we centralise these
related definitions. Start by moving the bffer operations
structures, and then also move all the other definitions that have
crept into xfs_log_format.h and xfs_format.h as there was no other
shared header file to put them in.

When xfs_growfs_data_private() is updating backup superblocks,
it bails out on the first error encountered, whether reading or
writing:
* If we get an error writing out the alternate superblocks,
* just issue a warning and continue. The real work is
* already done and committed.
This can cause a problem later during repair, because repair
looks at all superblocks, and picks the most prevalent one
as correct. If we bail out early in the backup superblock
loop, we can end up with more "bad" matching superblocks than
good, and a post-growfs repair may revert the filesystem to
the old geometry.
With the combination of superblock verifiers and old bugs,
we're more likely to encounter read errors due to verification.
And perhaps even worse, we don't even properly write any of the
newly-added superblocks in the new AGs.
Even with this change, growfs will still say:
xfs_growfs: XFS_IOC_FSGROWFSDATA xfsctl failed: Structure needs cleaning
data blocks changed from 319815680 to 335216640
which might be confusing to the user, but it at least communicates
that something has gone wrong, and dmesg will probably highlight
the need for an xfs_repair.
And this is still best-effort; if verifiers fail on more than
half the backup supers, they may still "win" - but that's probably
best left to repair to more gracefully handle by doing its own
strict verification as part of the backup super "voting."

With the new xfs_trans_res structure has been introduced, the log
reservation size, log count as well as log flags are pre-initialized
at mount time. So it's time to refine xfs_trans_reserve() interface
to be more neat.
Also, introduce a new helper M_RES() to return a pointer to the
mp->m_resv structure to simplify the input.

Currently userspace has no way of determining that a filesystem is
CRC enabled. Add a flag to the XFS_IOC_FSGEOMETRY ioctl output to
indicate that the filesystem has v5 superblock support enabled.
This will allow xfs_info to correctly report the state of the
filesystem.

Add CRC checks, location information and a magic number to the AGFL.
Previously the AGFL was just a block containing nothing but the
free block pointers. The new AGFL has a real header with the usual
boilerplate instead, so that we can verify it's not corrupted and
written into the right place.

into new verifier structure and growfs structure, enabled full
verifier functionality now there is a header to verify and we can
guarantee an initialised AGFL.

The AGF already has some self identifying fields (e.g. the sequence
number) so we only need to add the uuid to it to identify the
filesystem it belongs to. The location is fixed based on the
sequence number, so there's no need to add a block number, either.
Hence the only additional fields are the CRC and LSN fields. These
are unlogged, so place some space between the end of the logged
fields and them so that future expansion of the AGF for logged
fields can be placed adjacent to the existing logged fields and
hence not complicate the field-derived range based logging we
currently have.
Based originally on a patch from myself, modified further by
Christoph Hellwig and then modified again to fit into the
verifier structure with additional fields by myself. The multiple

Add support for larger btree blocks that contains a CRC32C checksum,
a filesystem uuid and block number for detecting filesystem
consistency and out of place writes.
[dchinner@redhat.com] Also include an owner field to allow reverse
mappings to be implemented for improved repairability and a LSN
field to so that log recovery can easily determine the last
modification that made it to disk for each buffer.
[dchinner@redhat.com] Add buffer log format flags to indicate the
type of buffer to recovery so that we don't have to do blind magic
number tests to determine what the buffer is.

To separate the verifiers from iodone functions and associate read
and write verifiers at the same time, introduce a buffer verifier
operations structure to the xfs_buf.
This avoids the need for assigning the write verifier, clearing the
iodone function and re-running ioend processing in the read
verifier, and gets rid of the nasty "b_pre_io" name for the write
verifier function pointer. If we ever need to, it will also be
easier to add further content specific callbacks to a buffer with an
ops structure in place.
We also avoid needing to export verifier functions, instead we
can simply export the ops structures for those that are needed
outside the function they are defined in.
This patch also fixes a directory block readahead verifier issue
it exposed.
This patch also adds ops callbacks to the inode/alloc btree blocks
initialised by growfs. These will need more work before they will
work with CRCs.

Add a superblock verify callback function and pass it into the
buffer read functions. Remove the now redundant verification code
that is currently in use.
Adding verification shows that secondary superblocks never have
their "sb_inprogress" flag cleared by mkfs.xfs, so when validating
the secondary superblocks during a grow operation we have to avoid
checking this field. Even if we fix mkfs, we will still have to
ignore this field for verification purposes unless a version of mkfs
that does not have this bug was used.

With verification being done as an IO completion callback, different
errors can be returned from a read. Uncached reads only return a
buffer or NULL on failure, which means the verification error cannot
be returned to the caller.
Split the error handling for these reads into two - a failure to get
a buffer will still return NULL, but a read error will return a
referenced buffer with b_error set rather than NULL. The caller is
responsible for checking the error state of the buffer returned.

Add a verifier function callback capability to the buffer read
interfaces. This will be used by the callers to supply a function
that verifies the contents of the buffer when it is read from disk.
This patch does not provide callback functions, but simply modifies
the interfaces to allow them to be called.
The reason for adding this to the read interfaces is that it is very
difficult to tell fom the outside is a buffer was just read from
disk or whether we just pulled it out of cache. Supplying a callbck
allows the buffer cache to use it's internal knowledge of the buffer
to execute it only when the buffer is read from disk.
It is intended that the verifier functions will mark the buffer with
an EFSCORRUPTED error when verification fails. This allows the
reading context to distinguish a verification error from an IO
error, and potentially take further actions on the buffer (e.g.
attempt repair) based on the error reported.

For verification purposes, AGFLs need to be initialised to a known
set of values. For upcoming CRC changes, they are also headers that
need to be initialised. Currently, growfs does neither for the AGFLs
- it ignores them completely. Add initialisation of the AGFL to be
full of invalid block numbers (NULLAGBLOCK) to put the
infrastructure in place needed for CRC support.

When writing the new AG headers to disk, we can't attach write
verifiers because they have a dependency on the struct xfs-perag
being attached to the buffer to be fully initialised and growfs
can't fully initialise them until later in the process.
The simplest way to avoid this problem is to use uncached buffers
for writing the new headers. These buffers don't have the xfs-perag
attached to them, so it's simple to detect in the write verifier and
be able to skip the checks that need the xfs-perag.
This enables us to attach the appropriate buffer ops to the buffer
and hence calculate CRCs on the way to disk. IT also means that the
buffer is torn down immediately, and so the first access to the AG
headers will re-read the header from disk and perform full
verification of the buffer. This way we also can catch corruptions
due to problems that went undetected in growfs.

When updating new secondary superblocks in a growfs operation, the
superblock buffer is read from the newly grown region of the
underlying device. This is not guaranteed to be zero, so violates
the underlying assumption that the unused parts of superblocks are
zero filled. Get a new buffer for these secondary superblocks to
ensure that the unused regions are zero filled correctly.

With the removal of xfs_rw.h and other changes over time, xfs_bit.h
is being included in many files that don't actually need it. Clean
up the includes as necessary.
Also move the only-used-once xfs_ialloc_find_free() static inline
function out of a header file that is widely included to reduce
the number of needless dependencies on xfs_bit.h.

xfs_do_force_shutdown now is the only thing in xfs_rw.c. There is no
need to keep it in it's own file anymore, so move it to xfs_fsops.c
next to xfs_fs_goingdown() and kill xfs_rw.c.

The only thing left in xfs_rw.h is a function prototype for an inode
function. Move that to xfs_inode.h, and kill xfs_rw.h.
Also move the function implementing the prototype from xfs_rw.c to
xfs_inode.c so we only have one function left in xfs_rw.c

xfs_agino_t to xfs_types.h. This removes the dependency that xfs_ag.h has on

xfs_read_buf() is effectively the same as xfs_trans_read_buf() when called
outside a transaction context. The error handling is slightly different in that
xfs_read_buf stales the errored buffer it gets back, but there is probably good
reason for xfs_trans_read_buf() for doing this.
Hence update xfs_trans_read_buf() to the same error handling as xfs_read_buf(),
and convert all the callers of xfs_read_buf() to use the former function. We can
then remove xfs_read_buf().

Buffers are always returned locked from the lookup routines. Hence
we don't need to tell the lookup routines to return locked buffers,
on to try and lock them. Remove XBF_LOCK from all the callers and
from internal buffer cache usage.

The xfs_buf_get/read API is not consistent in the units it uses, and
does not use appropriate or consistent units/types for the
variables.
Convert the API to use disk addresses and block counts for all
buffer get and read calls. Use consistent naming for all the
functions and their declarations, and convert the internal functions
to use disk addresses and block counts to avoid need to convert them
from one type to another and back again.
Fix all the callers to use disk addresses and block counts. In many
cases, this removes an additional conversion from the function call
as the callers already have a block count.

The FSGEOMETRY_V1 ioctl (and its compat equivalent) calls out to
xfs_fs_geometry() with a version number of 3. This code path does not
fill in the logsunit member of the passed xfs_fsop_geom_t, leading to
the leaking of four bytes of uninitialized stack data to potentially
unprivileged callers.
v2 switches to memset() to avoid future issues if structure members
change, on suggestion of Dave Chinner.

To ensure the log is covered and the filesystem idles correctly, we
need to ensure that dummy transactions hit the disk and do not stay
pinned in memory. If the superblock is pinned in memory, it can't
be flushed so the log covering cannot make progress. The result is
dependent on timing - more oftent han not we continue to issues a
log covering transaction every 36s rather than idling after ~90s.
Fix this by making the log covering transaction synchronous. To
avoid additional log force from xfssyncd, make the log covering
transaction take the place of the existing log force in the xfssyncd
background sync process.

Currently the size of the speculative preallocation during delayed
allocation is fixed by either the allocsize mount option of a
default size. We are seeing a lot of cases where we need to
recommend using the allocsize mount option to prevent fragmentation
when buffered writes land in the same AG.
Rather than using a fixed preallocation size by default (up to 64k),
make it dynamic by basing it on the current inode size. That way the
EOF preallocation will increase as the file size increases. Hence
for streaming writes we are much more likely to get large
preallocations exactly when we need it to reduce fragementation.
For default settings, the size of the initial extents is determined
by the number of parallel writers and the amount of memory in the
machine. For 4GB RAM and 4 concurrent 32GB file writes:

Because it is hard to take back specualtive preallocation, cases
where there are large slow growing log files on a nearly full
filesystem may cause premature ENOSPC. Hence as the filesystem nears
full, the maximum dynamic prealloc size іs reduced according to this
table (based on 4k block size):

>5% full extent (8GB)
4-5% 2GB (8GB >> 2)
3-4% 1GB (8GB >> 3)
2-3% 512MB (8GB >> 4)
1-2% 256MB (8GB >> 5)
<1% 128MB (8GB >> 6)
This should reduce the amount of space held in speculative
preallocation for such cases.
The allocsize mount option turns off the dynamic behaviour and fixes
the prealloc size to whatever the mount option specifies. i.e. the
behaviour is unchanged.

Export xfs_icsb_modify_counters and always use it for modifying
the per-cpu counters. Remove support for per-cpu counters from
xfs_mod_incore_sb to simplify it.

When we are checking we can access the last block of each device, we
do not need to use cached buffers as they will be tossed away
immediately. Use uncached buffers for size checks so that all IO
prior to full in-memory structure initialisation does not use the
buffer cache.

When we need to cover the log, we issue dummy transactions to ensure
the current log tail is on disk. Unfortunately we currently use the
root inode in the dummy transaction, and the act of committing the
transaction dirties the inode at the VFS level.
As a result, the VFS writeback of the dirty inode will prevent the
filesystem from idling long enough for the log covering state
machine to complete. The state machine gets stuck in a loop issuing
new dummy transactions to cover the log and never makes progress.
To avoid this problem, the dummy transactions should not cause
externally visible state changes. To ensure this occurs, make sure
that dummy transactions log an unchanging field in the superblock as
it's state is never propagated outside the filesystem. This allows
the log covering state machine to complete successfully and the
filesystem now correctly enters a fully idle state about 90s after
the last modification was made.

Currently we need to either call IHOLD or xfs_trans_ihold on an inode when
joining it to a transaction via xfs_trans_ijoin.
This patches instead makes xfs_trans_ijoin usable on it's own by doing
an implicity xfs_trans_ihold, which also allows us to drop the third
argument. For the case where we want to hold a reference on the inode
a xfs_trans_ijoin_ref wrapper is added which does the IHOLD and marks
the inode for needing an xfs_iput. In addition to the cleaner interface
to the caller this also simplifies the implementation.
