2008-07-16ACPICA: Eliminate acpi_native_uint type v2Bob Moore
No longer needed; replaced mostly with u32, but also acpi_size where a type that changes 32/64 bit on 32/64-bit platforms is required. v2: Fix a cast of a 32-bit int to a pointer in ACPI to avoid a compiler warning. from David Howells Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@linux.intel.com>
2008-07-16ACPICA: Fix possible negative array index in acpi_ut_validate_exceptionBob Moore
Added NULL fields to the exception string arrays to eliminate the -1 subtraction on the SubStatus field. Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@linux.intel.com>
2008-07-16ACPICA: Update tracking macros to reduce code/data sizeJan Beulich
Changed ACPI_MODULE_NAME and ACPI_FUNCTION_NAME to use arrays of strings instead of pointers to static strings. Jan Beulich and Bob Moore. Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@linux.intel.com>
2008-07-16ACPICA: Fix for hang on GPE method invocationBob Moore
Fixes problem where the new method argument count validation mechanism will enter an infinite loop when a GPE method is dispatched. Problem fixed be removing the obsolete code that passes GPE block information to the notify handler via the control method parameter pointer. Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@linux.intel.com>
2008-07-16ACPICA: Add argument count checking to control method invocation via ↵Bob Moore
acpi_evaluate_object Error if too few arguments, warning if too many. This applies only to external programmatic control method execution, not method-to-method calls within the AML. Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@linux.intel.com>
2008-07-16ACPI PM: acpi_pm_device_sleep_state() cleanupDavid Brownell
Get rid of a superfluous acpi_pm_device_sleep_state() parameter. The only legitimate value of that parameter must be derived from the first parameter, which is what all the callers already do. (However, this does not address the fact that ACPI still doesn't set up those flags.) Signed-off-by: David Brownell <dbrownell@users.sourceforge.net> Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@linux.intel.com> Acked-by: Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz> Signed-off-by: Rafael J. Wysocki <rjw@sisk.pl> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
2008-07-16ACPICA: fix mutex names in debug code.Vegard Nossum

2008-07-16Make GPE disable more robustBob Moore
Implemented another change for the GPE disable. We now perform a read-change-write of the enable register instead of simply writing out the cached enable mask. This will prevent inadvertent enabling of GPEs if a rogue GPE is received during initialization (before GPE handlers are installed.) http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6217 Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Andi Kleen <ak@linux.intel.com>

2008-04-22ACPICA: Fix to handle NULL package elements correctlyLin Ming
Fixed problem where NULL package elements were not returned to the AcpiEvaluateObject interface correctly. Instead of returning a NULL ACPI_OBJECT package element, the element was simply ignored, potentially causing a buffer overflow and/or confusing the caller who expected a fixed number of elements. http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10132 Signed-off-by: Lin Ming <ming.m.lin@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Alexey Starikovskiy <astarikovskiy@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>

2008-04-22ACPICA: Fix for resource descriptor optimization issues for _CRS/_SRCBob Moore
Fixed a problem where resource descriptor size optimization could cause a problem when a _CRS resource template is passed to a _SRS method. The _SRS resource template must use the same descriptors (with the same size) as returned from _CRS. This change affects the following resource descriptors: IRQ/IRQNoFlags and StartDependendentFn/StartDependentFnNoPri. http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9487 Signed-off-by: Bob Moore <robert.moore@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Alexey Starikovskiy <astarikovskiy@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com>
2008-04-22ACPICA: Disassembler support for new ACPI tablesBob Moore

2008-04-22ACPICA: Fix for ACPI_HIDWORD macroBob Moore
Fixed a regression introduced in version 20071114. The ACPI_HIDWORD macro was inadvertently changed to return a 16-bit value instead of a 32-bit value, truncating the upper Dword of a 64-bit value. This macro is only used to display debug output, so no incorrect calculations were made. 2008-04-22ACPICA: changed order of interpretation of operand objectsBob Moore
The interpreter now evaluates operands in the order that they appear (both in the AML and ASL), instead of in reverse order. This previously caused subtle incompatibilities with the MS interpreter as well as being non-intuitive. 2008-02-14ACPI, cpuidle: Clarify C-state description in sysfsVenkatesh Pallipadi
Add a new sysfs entry under cpuidle states. desc - can be used by driver to communicate to userspace any specific information about the state. This helps in identifying the exact hardware C-states behind the ACPI C-state definition. Idea is to export this through powertop, which will help to map the C-state reported by powertop to actual hardware C-state. 2008-02-13acpi: fix acpi_os_read_pci_configuration() misuse of raw_pci_read()Linus Torvalds
The raw_pci_read() interface (as the raw_pci_ops->read() before it) unconditionally fills in a 32-bit integer return value regardless of the size of the operation requested. So claiming to take a "void *" is wrong, as is passing in a pointer to just a byte variable. Noticed by pageexec when enabling -fstack-protector (which needs other patches too to actually work, but that's a separate issue). Acked-by: Len Brown <len.brown@intel.com> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
