Currently, sysfs_dirent active_ref lockdep annotation uses
attribute->[s]key as the lockdep key, which forces
kernfs_create_file_ns() to assume that sysfs_dirent->priv is pointing
to a struct attribute which may not be true for non-sysfs users. This
patch restructures the lockdep annotation such that
* kernfs_ops contains lockdep_key which is used by default for files
created kernfs_create_file_ns().
* kernfs_create_file_ns_key() is introduced which takes an extra @key
argument. The created file will use the specified key for
active_ref lockdep annotation. If NULL is specified, lockdep for
the file is disabled.
* sysfs_add_file_mode_ns() is updated to use
kernfs_create_file_ns_key() with the appropriate key from the
attribute or NULL if ignore_lockdep is set.
This makes the lockdep annotation properly contained in kernfs while
allowing sysfs to cleanly keep its current behavior. This patch
doesn't introduce any behavior differences.

Introduce kernfs interface to wake up poll(2) which takes and returns
sysfs_dirents.
sysfs_notify_dirent() is renamed to kernfs_notify() and sysfs_notify()
is updated so that it doesn't directly grab sysfs_mutex but acquires
the target sysfs_dirents using sysfs_get_dirent().
sysfs_notify_dirent() is reimplemented as a dumb inline wrapper around
kernfs_notify().
This patch doesn't introduce any behavior changes.

kernfs_ops currently only supports single_open() behavior which is
pretty restrictive. Add optional callbacks ->seq_{start|next|stop}()
which, when implemented, are invoked for seq_file traversal. This
allows full seq_file functionality for kernfs users. This currently
doesn't have any user and doesn't change any behavior.

Introduce kernfs interface to create a file which takes and returns
sysfs_dirents.
The actual file creation part is separated out from
sysfs_add_file_mode_ns() into kernfs_create_file_ns(). The former now
only decides the kernfs_ops to use and the file's size and invokes the
latter.
This patch doesn't introduce behavior changes.

We're in the process of separating out core sysfs functionality into
kernfs which will deal with sysfs_dirents directly. This patch
introduces kernfs_ops which hosts methods kernfs users implement and
updates fs/sysfs/file.c such that sysfs_kf_*() functions populate
kernfs_ops and kernfs_file_*() functions call the matching entries
from kernfs_ops.
kernfs_ops contains the following groups of methods.
* seq_show() - for kernfs files which use seq_file for reads.
* read() - for direct read implementations. Used iff seq_show() is
not implemented.
* write() - for writes.
* mmap() - for mmaps.
Notes:
* sysfs_elem_attr->ops is added so that kernfs_ops can be accessed
from sysfs_dirent. kernfs_ops() helper is added to verify locking
and access the field.
* SYSFS_FLAG_HAS_(SEQ_SHOW|MMAP) added. sd->s_attr->ops is accessible
only while holding active_ref and there are cases where we want to
take different actions depending on which ops are implemented.
These two flags cache whether the two ops are implemented for those.
* kernfs_file_*() no longer test sysfs type but chooses different
behaviors depending on which methods in kernfs_ops are implemented.
The conversions are trivial except for the open path. As
kernfs_file_open() now decides whether to allow read/write accesses
depending on the kernfs_ops implemented, the presence of methods in
kobjs and attribute_bin should be propagated to kernfs_ops.
sysfs_add_file_mode_ns() is updated so that it propagates presence /
absence of the callbacks through _empty, _ro, _wo, _rw kernfs_ops.

sysfs_open_file will be used as the primary handle for kernfs methods.
Move its definition from fs/sysfs/file.c to include/linux/kernfs.h and
mark the public and private fields.

Introduce kernfs interface to manipulate a directory which takes and
returns sysfs_dirents.
create_dir() is renamed to kernfs_create_dir_ns() and its argumantes
and return value are updated. create_dir() usages are replaced with
kernfs_create_dir_ns() and sysfs_create_subdir() usages are replaced
with kernfs_create_dir(). Dup warnings are handled explicitly by
sysfs users of the kernfs interface.
sysfs_enable_ns() is renamed to kernfs_enable_ns().
This patch doesn't introduce any behavior changes.

Introduce kernfs setattr interface - kernfs_setattr().
sysfs_sd_setattr() is renamed to __kernfs_setattr() and
kernfs_setattr() is a simple wrapper around it with sysfs_mutex
locking. sysfs_chmod_file() is updated to get an explicit ref on
kobj->sd and then invoke kernfs_setattr() so that it doesn't have to
use internal interface.
This patch doesn't introduce any behavior differences.

Introduce kernfs rename interface, krenfs_rename[_ns]().
This is just rename of sysfs_rename(). No functional changes.
Function comment is added to kernfs_rename_ns() and @new_parent_sd is
renamed to @new_parent for consistency with other kernfs interfaces.

Separate out kernfs symlink interface - kernfs_create_link() - which
takes and returns sysfs_dirents, from sysfs_do_create_link_sd().
sysfs_do_create_link_sd() now just determines the parent and target
sysfs_dirents and invokes the new interface and handles dup warning.
This patch doesn't introduce behavior changes.

Core sysfs implementation will be separated into kernfs so that it can
be used by other non-kobject users.
This patch creates fs/kernfs/ directory and makes boilerplate changes.
kernfs interface will be directly based on sysfs_dirent and its
forward declaration is moved to include/linux/kernfs.h which is
included from include/linux/sysfs.h. sysfs core implementation will
be gradually separated out and moved to kernfs.
This patch doesn't introduce any functional changes.

The way namespace tags are implemented in sysfs is more complicated
than necessary. As each tag is a pointer value and required to be
non-NULL under a namespace enabled parent, there's no need to record
separately what type each tag is. If multiple namespace types are
needed, which currently aren't, we can simply compare the tag to a set
of allowed tags in the superblock assuming that the tags, being
pointers, won't have the same value across multiple types.
This patch rips out kobj_ns_type handling from sysfs. sysfs now has
an enable switch to turn on namespace under a node. If enabled, all
children are required to have non-NULL namespace tags and filtered
against the super_block's tag.
kobject namespace determination is now performed in
lib/kobject.c::create_dir() making sysfs_read_ns_type() unnecessary.
The sanity checks are also moved. create_dir() is restructured to
ease such addition. This removes most kobject namespace knowledge
from sysfs proper which will enable proper separation and layering of
sysfs.
This is the second try. The first one was cb26a311578e ("sysfs: drop
kobj_ns_type handling") which tried to automatically enable namespace
if there are children with non-NULL namespace tags; however, it was
broken for symlinks as they should inherit the target's tag iff
namespace is enabled in the parent. This led to namespace filtering
enabled incorrectly for wireless net class devices through phy80211
symlinks and thus network configuration failure. a1212d278c05
("Revert "sysfs: drop kobj_ns_type handling"") reverted the commit.
This shouldn't introduce any behavior changes, for real.

This causes the ftrace internal accounting to get screwed up and

2) if a TRACE_EVENT has a string field, and NULL is given for it.
The internal trace event code does a strlen() and strcpy() on the
source of field. If it is NULL it causes the system to oops.
This bug has been there since 2.6.31, but no TRACE_EVENT ever passed
in a NULL to the string field, until now"

New tracepoints have been added that have allowed for NULL pointers
being assigned to strings. To fix this, change the TRACE_EVENT() code
to check for NULL and if it is, it will assign "(null)" to it instead
(similar to what glibc printf does).

In order to support increased build test coverage for drivers, implement
dummies for the powergate implementation. This will allow the drivers to
be built without requiring support for Tegra to be selected.
This patch solves the following build errors, which can be triggered in
v3.13-rc1 by selecting DRM_TEGRA without ARCH_TEGRA:

* A misuse of the IIO_ST macro, in mcp3422, which we should really make a
concertive effort to finish removing.
* Avoid a double free introduced by recent buffer reference counting in the
one driver that (quite reasonably!) does things differently (am335x)
* A missing mutex_unlock in kxsd9 that means that driver has been non
functional for some time and no one noticed (including me who for once
actually has one of the supported devices).
* An incorrect assumption about the parameters of sign_extend32 in mcp3422.
So nothing controversial. The only substantial patch is the hid_sensors
one and that is actually just adding a new pointer to the devices private
state then moving the code over to it.

GPIO mapping properties were defined using the GPIOF_* flags, which are
declared in linux/gpio.h. This file is not included when using the
GPIO descriptor interface.
This patch declares the flags that can be used as GPIO mappings
properties in linux/gpio/driver.h, and uses them in gpiolib, so that no
deprecated declarations are used by the GPIO descriptor interface.
This patch also allows GPIO_OPEN_DRAIN and GPIO_OPEN_SOURCE to be
specified as GPIO mapping properties.

"Okay. There are a number of separate bits. I'll go over the big bits
and the odd important other bit, most of the smaller bits are just

(1) Keyring capacity expansion.

KEYS: Expand the capacity of a keyring
Several of the patches are providing an expansion of the capacity of a
keyring. Currently, the maximum size of a keyring payload is one page.
Subtract a small header and then divide up into pointers, that only gives
you ~500 pointers on an x86_64 box. However, since the NFS idmapper uses
a keyring to store ID mapping data, that has proven to be insufficient to
the cause.
Whatever data structure I use to handle the keyring payload, it can only
store pointers to keys, not the keys themselves because several keyrings
may point to a single key. This precludes inserting, say, and rb_node
struct into the key struct for this purpose.
I could make an rbtree of records such that each record has an rb_node
and a key pointer, but that would use four words of space per key stored
in the keyring. It would, however, be able to use much existing code.
I selected instead a non-rebalancing radix-tree type approach as that
could have a better space-used/key-pointer ratio. I could have used the
radix tree implementation that we already have and insert keys into it by
their serial numbers, but that means any sort of search must iterate over
the whole radix tree. Further, its nodes are a bit on the capacious side
for what I want - especially given that key serial numbers are randomly
allocated, thus leaving a lot of empty space in the tree.
So what I have is an associative array that internally is a radix-tree
with 16 pointers per node where the index key is constructed from the key
type pointer and the key description. This means that an exact lookup by
type+description is very fast as this tells us how to navigate directly to
the target key.
I made the data structure general in lib/assoc_array.c as far as it is
concerned, its index key is just a sequence of bits that leads to a
pointer. It's possible that someone else will be able to make use of it
also. FS-Cache might, for example.
(2) Mark keys as 'trusted' and keyrings as 'trusted only'.

These patches allow keys carrying asymmetric public keys to be marked as
being 'trusted' and allow keyrings to be marked as only permitting the
addition or linkage of trusted keys.
Keys loaded from hardware during kernel boot or compiled into the kernel
during build are marked as being trusted automatically. New keys can be
loaded at runtime with add_key(). They are checked against the system
keyring contents and if their signatures can be validated with keys that
are already marked trusted, then they are marked trusted also and can
thus be added into the master keyring.
Patches from Mimi Zohar make this usable with the IMA keyrings also.
(3) Remove the date checks on the key used to validate a module signature.
X.509: Remove certificate date checks
It's not reasonable to reject a signature just because the key that it was
generated with is no longer valid datewise - especially if the kernel
hasn't yet managed to set the system clock when the first module is
loaded - so just remove those checks.
(4) Make it simpler to deal with additional X.509 being loaded into the kernel.

The builder of the kernel now just places files with the extension ".x509"
into the kernel source or build trees and they're concatenated by the
kernel build and stuffed into the appropriate section.
(5) Add support for userspace kerberos to use keyrings.

Fedora went to, by default, storing kerberos tickets and tokens in tmpfs.
We looked at storing it in keyrings instead as that confers certain
advantages such as tickets being automatically deleted after a certain
amount of time and the ability for the kernel to get at these tokens more
easily.
To make this work, two things were needed:
(a) A way for the tickets to persist beyond the lifetime of all a user's
sessions so that cron-driven processes can still use them.
The problem is that a user's session keyrings are deleted when the
session that spawned them logs out and the user's user keyring is
deleted when the UID is deleted (typically when the last log out
happens), so neither of these places is suitable.
I've added a system keyring into which a 'persistent' keyring is
created for each UID on request. Each time a user requests their
persistent keyring, the expiry time on it is set anew. If the user
doesn't ask for it for, say, three days, the keyring is automatically
expired and garbage collected using the existing gc. All the kerberos
tokens it held are then also gc'd.
(b) A key type that can hold really big tickets (up to 1MB in size).
The problem is that Active Directory can return huge tickets with lots
of auxiliary data attached. We don't, however, want to eat up huge
tracts of unswappable kernel space for this, so if the ticket is
greater than a certain size, we create a swappable shmem file and dump
the contents in there and just live with the fact we then have an
inode and a dentry overhead. If the ticket is smaller than that, we
slap it in a kmalloc()'d buffer"

I don't know what went wrong, mis-merge or something, but ->pmd_huge_pte
placed in wrong union within struct page.
In original patch[1] it's placed to union with ->lru and ->slab, but in
commit e009bb30c8df ("mm: implement split page table lock for PMD
level") it's in union with ->index and ->freelist.
That union seems also unused for pages with table tables and safe to
re-use, but it's not what I've tested.
Let's move it to original place. It fixes indentation at least. :)

Commit 7cb2ef56e6a8 ("mm: fix aio performance regression for database
caused by THP") can cause dereference of a dangling pointer if
split_huge_page runs during PageHuge() if there are updates to the
tail_page->private field.
Also it is repeating compound_head twice for hugetlbfs and it is running
compound_head+compound_trans_head for THP when a single one is needed in
both cases.
The new code within the PageSlab() check doesn't need to verify that the
THP page size is never bigger than the smallest hugetlbfs page size, to
avoid memory corruption.
A longstanding theoretical race condition was found while fixing the
above (see the change right after the skip_unlock label, that is
relevant for the compound_lock path too).
By re-establishing the _mapcount tail refcounting for all compound
pages, this also fixes the below problem:

Right now, the migration code in migrate_page_copy() uses copy_huge_page()
for hugetlbfs and thp pages:
if (PageHuge(page) || PageTransHuge(page))
copy_huge_page(newpage, page);
So, yay for code reuse. But:
void copy_huge_page(struct page *dst, struct page *src)
{
struct hstate *h = page_hstate(src);
and a non-hugetlbfs page has no page_hstate(). This works 99% of the
time because page_hstate() determines the hstate from the page order
alone. Since the page order of a THP page matches the default hugetlbfs
page order, it works.
But, if you change the default huge page size on the boot command-line
(say default_hugepagesz=1G), then we might not even *have* a 2MB hstate
so page_hstate() returns null and copy_huge_page() oopses pretty fast
since copy_huge_page() dereferences the hstate:

Mel noticed that the migration code is really the only user of these
functions. This moves all the copy code over to migrate.c and makes
copy_huge_page() work for THP by checking for it explicitly.
I believe the bug was introduced in commit b32967ff101a ("mm: numa: Add
THP migration for the NUMA working set scanning fault case")

Unfortunately, I introduced a tremendously stupid bug into
genlmsg_multicast() when doing all those multicast group
changes: it adjusts the group number, but then passes it
to genlmsg_multicast_netns() which does that again.
Somehow, my tests failed to catch this, so add a warning
into genlmsg_multicast_netns() and remove the offending
group ID adjustment.
Also add a warning to the similar code in other functions
so people who misuse them are more loudly warned.

This patch adds protection around ACPI_CHECKSUM_ABORT so that ACPI
user space test utilities can re-define it for their own purposes
(currently used by ASLTS build environment).
This patch doesn't affect Linux kernel behavior. Lv Zheng.

Add auto-MDI/MDI-X capability for forced (autonegotiation disabled)
10/100 Mbps speeds on Vitesse VSC82x4 PHYs. Exported previously static
function genphy_setup_forced() required by the new config_aneg handler
in the Vitesse PHY module.

This patch now always passes msg->msg_namelen as 0. recvmsg handlers must
set msg_namelen to the proper size <= sizeof(struct sockaddr_storage)
to return msg_name to the user.
This prevents numerous uninitialized memory leaks we had in the
recvmsg handlers and makes it harder for new code to accidentally leak
uninitialized memory.
Optimize for the case recvfrom is called with NULL as address. We don't
need to copy the address at all, so set it to NULL before invoking the
recvmsg handler. We can do so, because all the recvmsg handlers must
cope with the case a plain read() is called on them. read() also sets
msg_name to NULL.
Also document these changes in include/linux/net.h as suggested by David
Miller.
Changes since RFC:
Set msg->msg_name = NULL if user specified a NULL in msg_name but had a
non-null msg_namelen in verify_iovec/verify_compat_iovec. This doesn't
affect sendto as it would bail out earlier while trying to copy-in the
address. It also more naturally reflects the logic by the callers of
verify_iovec.
With this change in place I could remove "
if (!uaddr || msg_sys->msg_namelen == 0)
msg->msg_name = NULL
".
This change does not alter the user visible error logic as we ignore
msg_namelen as long as msg_name is NULL.
Also remove two unnecessary curly brackets in ___sys_recvmsg and change
comments to netdev style.

Doing an if statement to test some condition to know if we should
trigger a tracepoint is pointless when tracing is disabled. This just
adds overhead and wastes a branch prediction. This is why the
TRACE_EVENT_CONDITION() was created. It places the check inside the jump
label so that the branch does not happen unless tracing is enabled.
That is, instead of doing:
if (em)
trace_btrfs_get_extent(root, em);
Which is basically this:
if (em)
if (static_key(trace_btrfs_get_extent)) {
Using a TRACE_EVENT_CONDITION() we can just do:
trace_btrfs_get_extent(root, em);
And the condition trace event will do:
if (static_key(trace_btrfs_get_extent)) {
if (em) {
...
The static key is a non conditional jump (or nop) that is faster than
having to check if em is NULL or not.

Al points out that while the commit *does* actually create a separate
slab for the page->ptl allocation, that slab is never actually used, and
the code continues to use kmalloc/kfree.
Damien Wyart points out that the original patch did have the conversion
to use kmem_cache_alloc/free, so it got lost somewhere on its way to me.
Revert the half-arsed attempt that didn't do anything. If we really do
want the special slab (remember: this is all relevant just for debug
builds, so it's not necessarily all that critical) we might as well redo
the patch fully.
