2008-02-08namespaces: mark NET_NS with "depends on NAMESPACES"Pavel Emelyanov
There's already an option controlling the net namespaces cloning code, so make it work the same way as all the other namespaces' options. 2008-01-28[NETFILTER]: Add CONFIG_NETFILTER_ADVANCED optionPatrick McHardy
The NETFILTER_ADVANCED option hides lots of the rather obscure netfilter options when disabled and provides defaults (M) that should allow to run a distribution firewall without further thinking. Defaults to 'y' to avoid breaking current configurations. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-01-28[CAN]: Add PF_CAN core moduleOliver Hartkopp
This patch adds the CAN core functionality but no protocols or drivers. No protocol implementations are included here. They come as separate patches. Protocol numbers are already in include/linux/can.h. Signed-off-by: Oliver Hartkopp <oliver.hartkopp@volkswagen.de> Signed-off-by: Urs Thuermann <urs.thuermann@volkswagen.de> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2007-10-10[NET]: Add network namespace clone & unshare support.Eric W. Biederman
This patch allows you to create a new network namespace using sys_clone, or sys_unshare. As the network namespace is still experimental and under development clone and unshare support is only made available when CONFIG_NET_NS is selected at compile time. As this patch introduces network namespace support into code paths that exist when the CONFIG_NET is not selected there are a few additions made to net_namespace.h to allow a few more functions to be used when the networking stack is not compiled in. 2007-07-149p: Reorganization of 9p file system codeLatchesar Ionkov
This patchset moves non-filesystem interfaces of v9fs from fs/9p to net/9p. It moves the transport, packet marshalling and connection layers to net/9p leaving only the VFS related files in fs/9p. This work is being done in preparation for in-kernel 9p servers as well as alternate 9p clients (other than VFS). 2007-04-26[AF_RXRPC]: Provide secure RxRPC sockets for use by userspace and kernel bothDavid Howells
Provide AF_RXRPC sockets that can be used to talk to AFS servers, or serve answers to AFS clients. KerberosIV security is fully supported. The patches and some example test programs can be found in: http://people.redhat.com/~dhowells/rxrpc/ This will eventually replace the old implementation of kernel-only RxRPC currently resident in net/rxrpc/. 2007-04-25[WIRELESS]: Refactor wireless Kconfig.Johannes Berg
This patch refactors the wireless Kconfig all over and already introduces net/wireless/Kconfig with just the WEXT bit for now, the cfg80211 patch will add to that as well. > the build with the attached .config failed, make ends with: > ... > : undefined reference to `cipso_v4_sock_getattr' > net/built-in.o: In function `netlbl_socket_getattr': ... It looks like I was stupid and made NetLabel depend on CONFIG_NET and not CONFIG_INET, the patch below should fix this by making NetLabel depend on CONFIG_INET and CONFIG_SECURITY. 2006-09-17[NET]: Mark frame diverter for future removal.Stephen Hemminger
The code for frame diverter is unmaintained and has bitrotted. The number of users is very small and the code has lots of problems. If anyone is using it, they maybe exposing themselves to bad packet attacks. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@osdl.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2006-06-17[SECMARK]: Add secmark support to core networking.James Morris
Add a secmark field to the skbuff structure, to allow security subsystems to place security markings on network packets. This is similar to the nfmark field, except is intended for implementing security policy, rather than than networking policy. This patch was already acked in principle by Dave Miller. 2006-06-17[TCP]: TCP Probe congestion window tracingStephen Hemminger
This adds a new module for tracking TCP state variables non-intrusively using kprobes. It has a simple /proc interface that outputs one line for each packet received. 2006-02-02[NET]: Add CONFIG_NETDEBUG to suppress bad packet messages.Stephen Hemminger
If you are on a hostile network, or are running protocol tests, you can easily get the logged swamped by messages about bad UDP and ICMP packets. This turns those messages off unless a config option is enabled. Signed-off-by: Stephen Hemminger <shemminger@osdl.org> Acked-by: Dave Jones <davej@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2005-08-29[DCCP]: Initial implementationArnaldo Carvalho de Melo
Development to this point was done on a subversion repository at: http://oops.ghostprotocols.net:81/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/dccp-2.6/ This repository will be kept at this site for the foreseable future, so that interested parties can see the history of this code, attributions, etc. If I ever decide to take this offline I'll provide the full history at some other suitable place. 2005-08-29[NETFITLER]: Add nfnetlink layer.Harald Welte
Introduce "nfnetlink" (netfilter netlink) layer. This layer is used as transport layer for all userspace communication of the new upcoming netfilter subsystems, such as ctnetlink, nfnetlink_queue and some day even the mythical pkttables ;) Signed-off-by: Harald Welte <laforge@netfilter.org> Signed-off-by: David S. 2005-07-18[NET]: Kconfig: NETCONSOLE and NETPOLL togetherRandy Dunlap
Put NETCONSOLE and NETPOLL options together since they are related. This cuts down on the hassle of flipping back and forth between the Networking menu and the Network drivers menu to change their config settings. Tested with menuconfig, gconfig, and xconfig. gconfig has a small problem with this. I think that it's a bug in gconfig and I will take it up with Romain Lievin. 2005-07-11[NET]: move config options out to individual protocolsSam Ravnborg
Move the protocol specific config options out to the specific protocols. With this change net/Kconfig now starts to become readable and serve as a good basis for further re-structuring. The menu structure is left almost intact, except that indention is fixed in most cases. Most visible are the INET changes where several "depends on INET" are replaced with a single ifdef INET / endif pair. Several new files were created to accomplish this change - they are small but serve the purpose that config options are now distributed out where they belongs. Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg <sam@ravnborg.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-07-11[NET]: add a top-level Networking menu to *configSam Ravnborg
Create a new top-level menu named "Networking" thus moving net related options and protocol selection way from the drivers menu and up on the top-level where they belong. To implement this all architectures has to source "net/Kconfig" before drivers/*/Kconfig in their Kconfig file. This change has been implemented for all architectures. Device drivers for ordinary NIC's are still to be found in the Device Drivers section, but Bluetooth, IrDA and ax25 are located with their corresponding menu entries under the new networking menu item. 2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2v2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
