2013-07-01ASoC: mxs: register saif mclk to clock frameworkShawn Guo
Mostly the mxs system design uses saif0 mclk output as the clock source of codec. Since the mclk is implemented as a general divider with the saif clk as the parent clock, let's register the mclk as a basic clk-divider to common clock framework. Then with it being a clock provdier, clk_get() call in codec driver probe function will just work. Signed-off-by: Shawn Guo <shawn.guo@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@linaro.org>
2013-05-13ASoC: mxs: move to use generic DMA helperShawn Guo
With mxs-dma converted to generic DMA bindings, let's move mxs-pcm to use it by removing flages SND_DMAENGINE_PCM_FLAG_NO_DT and SND_DMAENGINE_PCM_FLAG_COMPAT. As the result, those mxs custom dma params code can be removed now. Signed-off-by: Shawn Guo <shawn.guo@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@opensource.wolfsonmicro.com>

2013-03-26ASoC: mxs: Embed the mxs_dma_data struct in the mxs_pcm_dma_params structLars-Peter Clausen
Currently the mxs_dma_data struct, which gets passed to the dmaengine driver, is allocated in the pcm driver's open callback. The mxs_dma_data struct has exactly one field which is initialized from the the same field in the mxs_pcm_dma_params struct. The mxs_pcm_dma_params struct gets passed to the pcm driver from the dai driver. Instead of taking this indirection embed the mxs_dma_data struct directly in the mxs_pcm_dma_params struct. This allows us to simplify the pcm driver quite a bit, since we don't have to care about memory managing the mxs_dma_data struct anymore. 2012-11-02ASoC: mxs-saif: Fix channel swap for 24-bit formatFabio Estevam
Playing 24-bit format file leads to channel swap on mx28 and the reason is that the current driver performs one write/read to/from the SAIF_DATA register to trigger the transfer. This approach works fine for S16_LE case because SAIF_DATA is a 32-bit register and thus is capable of storing the 16-bit left and right channels, but for the S24_LE case it can only store one channel, so in order to not lose the FIFO sync an extra read/write is needed. 2012-07-24ASoC: mxs-saif: fix clock prepare and enable unbalance issueDong Aisheng
Currently we directly call a clock_enable in trigger function without a clk_prepare as pair first. This will cause system hang immediately when run capture because the clock was not prepared(playback does not hang because the clock was prepared already by get_mclk before), a warning message in clock framework may cause a deadlock to reclaim clock lock (see: pl011_console_write). Here we prepare clock first in hw_param, then enable it in trigger function to guarantee the balance. 2012-05-23Merge tag 'sound-3.5' of ↵Linus Torvalds
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound Pull sound updates from Takashi Iwai: "This is the first big chunk for 3.5 merges of sound stuff. There are a few big changes in different areas. First off, the streaming logic of USB-audio endpoints has been largely rewritten for the better support of "implicit feedback". If anything about USB got broken, this change has to be checked. For HD-audio, the resume procedure was changed; instead of delaying the resume of the hardware until the first use, now waking up immediately at resume. This is for buggy BIOS. For ASoC, dynamic PCM support and the improved support for digital links between off-SoC devices are major framework changes. Some highlights are below: * HD-audio - Avoid accesses of invalid pin-control bits that may stall the codec - V-ref setup cleanups - Fix the races in power-saving code - Fix the races in codec cache hashes and connection lists - Split some common codes for BIOS auto-parser to hda_auto_parser.c - Changed the PM resume code to wake up immediately for buggy BIOS - Creative SoundCore3D support - Add Conexant CX20751/2/3/4 codec support * ASoC - Dynamic PCM support, allowing support for SoCs with internal routing through components with tight sequencing and formatting constraints within their internal paths or where there are multiple components connected with CPU managed DMA controllers inside the SoC. - Greatly improved support for direct digital links between off-SoC devices, providing a much simpler way of connecting things like digital basebands to CODECs. - Much more fine grained and robust locking, cleaning up some of the confusion that crept in with multi-component. - CPU support for nVidia Tegra 30 I2S and audio hub controllers and ST-Ericsson MSP I2S controolers - New CODEC drivers for Cirrus CS42L52, LAPIS Semiconductor ML26124, Texas Instruments LM49453. - Some regmap changes needed by the Tegra I2S driver. - mc13783 audio support. * Misc - Rewrite with module_pci_driver() - Xonar DGX support for snd-oxygen - Improvement of packet handling in snd-firewire driver - New USB-endpoint streaming logic - Enhanced M-audio FTU quirks and relevant cleanups - Increment the support of OSS devices to 256 - snd-aloop accuracy improvement There are a few more pending changes for 3.5, but they will be sent slightly later as partly depending on the changes of DRM." 2012-01-20ASoC: mxs: Fix mxs-saif timeoutFabio Estevam
On a mx28evk board the following errors happens on mxs-sgtl5000 probe: [ 0.660000] saif0_clk_set_rate: divider writing timeout [ 0.670000] mxs-sgtl5000: probe of mxs-sgtl5000.0 failed with error -110 [ 0.670000] ALSA device list: [ 0.680000] No soundcards found. This timeout happens because clk_set_rate will result in writing to the DIV bits of register HW_CLKCTRL_SAIF0 with the saif clock gated (CLKGATE bit set to one). MX28 Reference states the following about CLKGATE: "The DIV field can change ONLY when this clock gate bit field is low." So call clk_prepare_enable prior to clk_set_rate to fix this problem. 2011-11-23ASoC: Constify snd_soc_dai_ops structsLars-Peter Clausen
Commit 1ee46ebd("ASoC: Make the DAI ops constant in the DAI structure") introduced the possibility to have constant DAI ops structures, yet this is barley used in both existing drivers and also new drivers being submitted, although none of them modifies its DAI ops structure. The later is not surprising since existing drivers are often used as templates for new drivers. So this patch just constifies all existing snd_soc_dai_ops structs to eliminate the issue altogether. The patch was generated with the following coccinelle semantic patch: // <smpl> @@ identifier ops; @@ -struct snd_soc_dai_ops ops = +const struct snd_soc_dai_ops ops = { ... }; // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Lars-Peter Clausen <lars@metafoo.de> Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@opensource.wolfsonmicro.com>
2011-10-22ASoC: keep pointer to resource so it can be freedJulia Lawall
Add a new variable for storing resources accessed subsequent to the one accessed using request_mem_region, so the one accessed using request_mem_region can be released if needed. The resource variable names are also changed to be more descriptive. This code is also missing some calls to iounmap. The semantic match that finds this problem is as follows: (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/) // <smpl> @r@ expression E, E1; identifier f; statement S1,S2,S3; @@ if (E == NULL) { ... when != if (E == NULL || ...) S1 else S2 when != E = E1 *E->f ... when any return ...; } else S3 // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <julia@diku.dk> Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@opensource.wolfsonmicro.com>
2011-09-19ASoC: mxs-saif: add record functionDong Aisheng
1. add different clkmux mode handling SAIF can use two instances to implement full duplex (playback & recording) and record saif may work on EXTMASTER mode which is using other saif's BITCLK&LRCLK. The clkmux mode could be set in pdata->init() in mach-specific code. For generic saif driver, it only needs to know who is his master and the master id is also provided in mach-specific code. 2. support playback and capture simutaneously however the sample rates can not be different due to hw limitation. 2011-08-22sound/soc/mxs/mxs-saif.c: add missing kfreeJulia Lawall
Move the test on pdev->id before the kzalloc to avoid requiring kfree when the test fails. This fix was suggested by Wolfram Sang. A simplified version of the semantic match that finds this problem is as follows: (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/) // <smpl> @@ identifier x; expression E1!=0,E2,E3,E4; statement S; iterator I; @@ ( if (...) { ... when != kfree(x) when != x = E3 when != E3 = x * return ...; } ... when != x = E2 when != I(...,x,...) 2011-08-22ASoC: mxs-saif: clear clk gate first before register settingDong Aisheng
Saif needs clear clk gate first before writing registers or the write will not success. The original xx_get_mclk function clear clk gate after mclk setting that may cause the former mclk setting unwork, then the real output mclk maybe inaccurate. Placing the clear before setting mclk to avoid such an issue. We also have to clear clk gate in startup instead of in prepare function.
