2014-08-26i40e: ATR policy change to flush the table to clean stale ATR rulesAnjali Singhai Jain
Instead of disabling ATR when we get a programming error, we now will wait it out to see if some room gets created by ATR rule deletion. If we still have too many errors and ATR filter count did not change much, its time to flush and replay. We no more auto-disable ATR when we have errors in programming. The disabling of ATR when we get programming error was buggy and was still adding new rules and causing continuous errors. With this policy change we flush instead when we see too many errors. ATR is still disabled if we add a SB rule for TCP/IPv4 flow type, more logic is added to re-enable it once all SB TCP/IPv4 rules are gone. 2014-08-26i40e: Some FD message fixesAnjali Singhai Jain
Change the message that gets printed when adding/deleting a filter to the SB, so that user can tell if a filter was added or deleted. Print filter add failures only in case of SB filters. For ATR the information is not useful to the user and hence suppress it unless in higher debug mode. 2014-08-26i40e: Update flow director error messages to reduce user confusionCarolyn Wyborny
This patch changes the wording of the flow director add/remove and asynchronous failure messages to include fd_id to try and add some way to track the operations on a given fd_id. Its not perfect, but its better than what we had as PCTYPE can apply to several different filter requests. This patch also removes a redundant message when filter addition fails due to full condition. 2014-08-25i40e: Fix TSO and hw checksums for non-accelerated vlan packets.Vlad Yasevich
This device claims TSO and checksum support for vlans. It also allows a user to control vlan acceleration offloading. As such, it is possible to turn off vlan acceleration and configure a vlan which will continue to support TSO and hw checksums. In such situation the packet passed down the the device will contain a vlan header and skb->protocol will be set to ETH_P_8021Q. The device assumes that skb->protocol contains network protocol value and uses that value to set up TSO and checksum information. This results in corrupted frames sent on the wire. This patch extract the protocol value correctly and corrects TSO and checksums for non-accelerated traffic. Fix this by using vlan_get_protocol() helper. 2014-08-15i40e: Fix for recent kernel panicAnjali Singhai Jain
Whenever we get a Tx hang we issue a PFR, which means we send AQ messages to VFS about the reset coming. Unfortunately with the recent fix to be able to send messages to all VFS which earlier was not happening at all we now are sending messages to not just the VFS that are up but also to VFS that are not up. AQ complains about this and sends us an error in ARQ called LAN overflow event for a queue. We check if the queue belongs to a VF and if it does we try to send a vc_notify_vf_reset message to that VF. Well if the VF is not up/enabled we will be entering this function with a non-active VF id. In this function we were assuming VF struct is populated but it won't be if the VF is not active. 2014-07-24i40e/i40evf: fix extension header csum logicJesse Brandeburg
The hardware design requires that the driver avoid indicating checksum offload success on some ipv6 frames with extension headers. 2014-07-24i40e/i40evf: Add nvmupdate supportShannon Nelson
This implements a state machine intended to support the userland tool for updating the device eeprom. The state machine implements one-shot reads, writes, multi-step write sessions, and checksum requests. If we're in the middle of a multi-step write session, no one should fire off other writes, however, one shot reads are valid. The userland tool is expected to keep track of its session status, arrange the placement and ordering of the writes, and deal with the checksum requirement. This patch also adds nvmupdate support to ethtool callbacks. The get_eeprom() and set_eeprom() services in ethtool are used here to facilitate the userland NVMUpdate tool. The 'magic' value in the get and set commands is used to pass additional control information for managing the read and write steps. The read operation works both as normally expected in the standard ethtool method, as well as with the extra NVM controls. The write operation works only for the expanded NVM functions - the normal ethtool method is not allowed because of the NVM semaphore management needed for multipart writes, as well as the checksum requirement. 2014-07-02i40e: Fix a boundary condition and turning off of ntupleAnjali Singhai Jain
When turning off ntuple with a FD table full situation, the driver would have auto disabled FD filter additions. Clear the auto disable flag for FD_SB so that when the feature is turned on again using "ethtool -K ethx ntuple on" we can start adding filters once again. 2014-07-02i40e: tolerate lost interruptsMitch Williams
If the AQ interrupt gets lost for some reason, VF communications will stall as the VFs have no way of reaching the PF, which is essentially deaf. The VFs end up waiting forever for a reply that will never come. To alleviate this condition, go ahead and check the ARQ every time we run the service task. Remove the check for a pending event, and get rid of a chatty error message that is now meaningless. 2014-07-02i40e/i40evf: Do not free the dummy packet buffer synchronouslyAnjali Singhai Jain
The HW still needs to consume it and freeing it in the function that created it would mean we will be racing with the HW. The i40e_clean_tx_ring() routine will free up the buffer attached once the HW has consumed it. The clean_fdir_tx_irq function had to be fixed to handle the freeing correctly. Cases where we program more than one filter per flow (Ipv4), the code had to be changed to allocate dummy buffer multiple times since it will be freed by the clean routine. This also fixes an issue where the filter program routine was not checking if there were descriptors available for programming a filter.
